I 2nd Crappy Tire, got my 10.25% LC on sale for $4.99 for 5L, so cheapest source of LC. I have a SWG, so I bought 3 and that should hopefully last me all season + if I don't have to SLAM. I think I paid around $10 for 900g of CYA there also, seemed cheaper than the 2nd round of CYA I bought from the pool store. Unfortunate for us, most bleach sold in Canada does not list the % of sodium hypochlorite and can range in actuality from 3% to 8.25% with varying levels of sodium hydroxide. The pool stuff is always listed, and tends to be cheaper by strength/volume than discount brands of bleach in my recent experience.
I needed to raise my CH, so bought Calcium Chloride Dihydrate from the pool store, as that was the most convenient place to go. I only needed about 4kg, so bought a 8kg container for about $25. Home depot sells 4kg for $11.30. I hear the bags of straight calcium chloride are much cheaper, but I have a vinyl pool and am only raising CH to the minimum requirement as set out by my heater warranty. I think this is mostly marketed as ice melter in Canada, so I'm not sure how well this does for pools. A 20kg bag of calcium chloride is $21 at Home Hardware.
