Chemical levels for new plaster pool

If you bumped up your CYA to 40, the recommended range is 5-7. Dosing to 5 will mean you just barely get into range, then quickly fall out of range as your chlorine gets used up during the day. I would plan on dosing to FC of 8 or 9, so that it will drift down and still be in range at tomorrow's test.
I'm in first week of startup process, do I need to raise FC that high? NPT guide says keep FC at 3ppm and CYA in 30-50 for 28 days.

MA added to lower pH to 7.6.
Do I need to do anything to TA? Add more baking soda to raise it back to 80 or leave it like that at 60? NPT startup says keep TA at 80.

Leave your TA at 60.

Keep your pH around 7.8

I updated my post as I did not catch this was your 1st week.

Once you are past the first month, feel free to run hot and let your chlorine drift down to the target range.

11am FC was 3.5, at 1:30 its 3.0.

I do have another question, as part of start up my PB did not add any sequestrant. I checked my local pool stores and they all have their own brands and no one has ProTeam's or Jack's Magic. I do want to add the recommended ones, where can I buy one at reasonable price? Thx.

Was your water greenish?

I ordered through truck delivery, they got Raleigh city water from one of the fire hydrant somewhere. It had slight greenish look and is blue now.

I don't think you need it. My water was green as can be which is Iron. It went blue within a couple days. I added the sequestrant. Wouldn't hurt.

Amazon- you can sometimes catch a deal for multiple bottles as well.

Day 7- FC dipped to 3.0 overnight from 4.0 and pH creeped to 8.2. Added bleach and MA and now at 3.5 and 7.6.

Is there a way to estimate the evaporation rate for a pool? Level has dipped a bit from fill day. Some must have gone to fill the plumbing and sand filter.

I use almost a gallon a week of muriatic acid to maintain my pH level. Even now entering my 8th season.

Evaporation is largely due to local conditions mostly humidity and temperature. Keep topping it up to the proper level. I lose a LOT of water during the season probably 500 plus gallons a week.

A pool is a dynamic system.

Adjust chemicals and add water. The routine will settle down once you are past the startup phase.

Besides evaporation, could plaster be consuming some water as part of cure?

no

Day 8: FC 4.0, pH 7.2, TA 40, CH 200, CYA 40

pH and TA are both low per the NPT guide, shall I add baking soda to raise TA and just wait for pH to rise on its own?

What is causing the TA to drop? It was 80 6 days ago and 40 now.
