Centurion Century making loud noise

Welcome to the forum!

Sure sounds like bearings to me.

But you could check the rear of the motor to see if there is any interference. More than likely that motor has a centrifugal switch in the back that can sometimes cause noises.

Probably bad bearings.

It has a run capacitor, which means that the motor is probably a PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) with no centrifugal switch.

Can you show the motor label?

Note: A Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) Motor is a type of single-phase AC induction motor in which the capacitor is permanently connected (as opposed to only being connected when starting).

A motor with a start capacitor uses a centrifugal switch.

Thank you for all the responses. After playing with it more, the bearing was in fact fine just a little loose. It had moved up a bit and the impeller was rubbing up against the housing. Thanks a bunch for all the suggestions. I replaced everything: bearing, impeller, and housing and it's running great now.
