Cappy has a new pool and needs help

All:

@Acap914 and I were talking through a couple of things re draining and filling this evening when he sent me some photos and asked if what they showed was anything to worry about. They're posted below.

The section you're seeing is the largest of several areas where the liner has come loose from the coping.

Sadly, I explained that IMHO he needs to call a pool store (maybe better yet, a pool install/repair company?) to get this fixed before continuing with his drain/fill/drain/fill program.

Really hated to see this. :( :( :(

Any advice and support you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I told him it's not the end of the world, but the problem should be addressed now, while the pool is in transition.

Thanks in advance -

ps - I'm writing this bc he's slammed (and not in a good TFP way ) trying to manage the pool while still living in his old house 30 mins away plus a couple of younguns who need tending to.

pps - Now we know why Cappy's chemistry is so out of whack. The former owner didn't do diddly in terms of keeping his pool up. 😠

Start from the outside, left and right. Push up and in. The liner can be pushed into position. If it helps, warm some water, close to boiling, and pour over the vinyl to soften. From left and right, warm, up and in. Easy peazy lemon squezy.

Nooooo??? Really????

Check the bottom of this link for a visual how the liner hook grabs the track hook.

Then Amazon 120ft of liner lock (Link) for $27 and it will wedge the loose areas tight.

It goes in with thumb pushes and if any areas are tight, use a block of scrap wood and a rubber mallot to save the liner for when you miss. (Let's be honest amongst friends :ROFLMAO:)

Hey folks.

Cappy's moving boxes upon boxes hither and yon today and has been unable to get back to the pool work.

I spoke with him by phone and he's wondering (and now that he's mentioned it I'm wondering) if the loose liner might have been caused by him draining the water. He didn't let the water level go below 22" above the shallow end of the pool, so my guess is no, but I'm also feeling my way through this. :)

He had not noticed the loose liner prior to yesterday evening, but, then again, he was not looking for it.

Thanks -

IMO he stopped draining at a conservative level. If anything, I think the filling popped it out as the water pushed it back up the wall.

We have officially moved into the new house and are back on the pool! We fixed the liner issue with some real hot sunny days and some strong thumbs.

We have now partially emptied the pool down to 18 inches twice.

Our diluted CYA test was 30 today (doubled 60) and the non-diluted was 90+ (picture).

Should we drain again?

You're looking down the tube, correct ?

Got pics ?

Also need to confirm you stepped into the shade for the pic to post. The test needs overhead sun for best results, shading the vial with your body. Also, only use a lightning fast glance and call it. Look away, then at the tube and BOOM yes or no. Otherwise your brain lies to you and you see it. Wanna see ? Look at your nose. It was here the whole time i typed this, and maybe even longer. 😁

This is a big help for me. I'm like looking down that tube, studying the black dot... "is it there? is that a reflection or a shadow?"

Thanks, Dude -
