it must make the pool layout guy's day when he only has a straight line pool to layout
ours had about 8 radius points to tie all together

i wouldn't want to demo the neighbor's grouted solid column or any of the stucco fence if I could avoid it

is that his poured in place edging ? that will probably never be the same either if they run over it ( edit nm) i see you mentioned that border .. it will never match imo

Good news is I reached out to SW Gas on social media and we are all good to go now!

Yeah, his edging is probably gonna get trashed. He's aware. His own pool company ruined it a long time ago, not sure if you can see the cracks in it. He never repaired it so we said we would if it got further damaged. I'm certain we will, it's in a tough spot. Maybe with the meter gone it might survive lol.

Excavation complete! No hard dig, even with a triple mini. Kind of shocking for our area.

I have my plumber/rebar guy, electrician, and gas guy all stopping by tomorrow morning for onsites.

One thing I do have to still secure is who will be building up the spa walls and pillars. :/

Per your drawings, the rebar crew forms the spa walls and pillars. The finite crew will end shooting to those forms. Ensure you speak to the rebar crew lead/foreman, communication is key!

Thanks, I will. He's also the plumber and is on site tomorrow along with gas and electric. I figured having them all talk during this phase would be easiest.

Gas will trench Monday, lay pipes Tuesday and hope to have inspection cleared by Thursday at the latest. Plumber plans to come in Friday and the weekend if gas goes smooth (our gas guys are confident, they are solid). Electrical and rebar will flow right after.

So far, I've been able to orchestrate these key contractors pretty well. Knock on wood. A lot of advice and thoughts from this forum have helped.

BTW we found out his edging wasn't cemented in, so we just pulled it aside and will put back after. Crisis averted.

Talk to me about the spa spillway. I have heard a term "backcut" but not sure from what I'm reading so far is the advantage of that. We have an open spillway, and it will be 2" or 2.5" under top of form (not sure exactly what that means).

Apparently backcut will help create a more strong flow, kind of like how tides work, because we are only having one pump for pool and spa.

How close/far off am I in this understanding?

You’re going to love it down the road when you need to refer to something and you have the photos to refresh your mind. When your equipment gets installed, take copious photos. Before the backfill, too. You’ll want to know where everything goes. And yeah, that’s a lot of dirt.

Gas lines all in, inspection tomorrow scheduled. Plumber on Friday most likely. Rebar next week.

They set the lines for the heater, the stub for the bbq, and the stubs for the fire pots by the spa.

Wyman Plumbing and Mechanical was awesome and did a ton of work.

Sooooooooooo much dirt
I work at customers houses and have seen both new and old houses get pools more times than i can count. I knew EXACTLY what i was signing up for, but when *my* dirt was on the wrong side of the grass, i was all 'whaaaaaaat did i dooooooo ????' Lol.

So we are going to NPT pool today with our interior and tile people. I heard "if you are gonna go extra somewhere, upgrade tile" and I kinda believe it. Is that wrong? It's relatively inexpensive and can really add to the character of the pool. We are thinking abalone like edging on steps and bench seating, a baroque blue for waterline and dam, and having some sort of mosaic or character row in the dam. Maybe an inlay on the baja shelf. (Added pic to show areas we have to play with, we've raised the spa by 6" as well).

Thoughts? How anxiety inducing is tile selection? We did it when we built our home but honestly there wasn't that much choice as there is here.

Step back at any stage and see the big picture. Does $1200 really change that much if it adds some WOW ? Sometimes folks are fretting over much less. I get it, the budget may be long blown and upwards of $100k or more, but still.

Once the dust settles, many folks kick themselves for not going with a larger patio or more bling. Nobody has ever lost their house over $800.

Insanely so. And good luck with that. :ROFLMAO:
But I've yet to see *1* that wasn't stunning in its own right. There are literally no wrong choices, just like puppies. Sure you have 'your breed', but when another little fella is licking you silly with his Lil puppy breath, it's impossible not to love him too.
