I wonder if I’ve broken off the retention tab inside the pool light niche at the 6:00 position . Is there a way to add one back or build one without removing niche?

You can make a new tab but you will have to use putty in the shape of the old one.. put the light back up to it and mark it, hand drill it under water and then screw it back in... Not easy but not to hard to do.. :)

The Hardest part will be getting a good bite on the niche for the putty to stay, if there is any part of the old tab that should work great...

There are pool light adapter repair rings that you can also use, or even a light wedge that might work.
