Yes, that’s what I typically do, but I didn’t know if adding the acid would affect that. Thanks.
 
Don't stress. When we get through this, you will be the QUEEN of your pool, you will understand all of it, and it will become much easier.

After backwashing and turning the pump back on high, it’s all frothy. Wtf???!! 🫣

Did you rinse after backwash?

Foaming is almost always organics which chlorine can take care of. I'm still stuck on organics are at work. Don't panic. We'll get this.

Did the Pool Builder add any algaecides or clarifiers, or any other pool potions? Do you have a list of them?

Let's do a proper OCLT tonight...I'm almost at the point of telling you to start a slam without an OCLT, given the foam and the rapid rise in the filter pressure, and this...from your last test.

Let your FC come down below 10, adjust pH per slam article and let's get this slam out of the way. Do the OCLT too tonight.

Yes he added algaecide and I’m sure clarifier. I’ve texted him several times to ask what was specifically added, and he just doesn’t answer. My husband rinsed the filter, but the contractor said don’t rinse it for longer than 30 seconds which I’m wondering may have been bad advice bc I’m seeing other sites saying rinse 30 seconds up to 2 minutes until clear (which wasn’t told to us). Should he rinse again? Moot point?

Great lakes ACE on 4th has this for 7.59/gallon. Walmart has "Pool essentials liquid chlorine" for 5.69 in the Troy supercenter, but is further away.

Keep filtering, and watch the pressure. You should note clean pressure and dirty pressure at the same RPM. Should be high RPM. Choose 3000RPM to check filter pressure. I'd like to know how long it takes to rise 25%. Filter on lower speed, it filters better. Every couple hours today, run it up to 3000 and see how fast pressure is rising.
 
I’m lost w the RPM— don’t see how I can view or change RPMs. We can choose low (18%), med (50%), high (100%), or any %. 10 psi on high is what has been “normal” and that’s what it is rn. Shift to low (like 1 psi) or medium (5 psi)?

Great, you can use RPM or speed. Your Max is likely 3450. Current speed is likely 81% of 3450 =~2800. Doesn't matter.

Lower your speed until the swcg goes no flow. If SWCG goes no flow at say 40%, add 5% and run your pump at 45%.

Use 80 or 85% for checking your filter pressure.
 
Ok. Low flow sensor didn’t come on until absolute lowest 18% setting, so I’m setting pump to 23%. As an aside, I found a workaround in another thread to find accurate ph with high FC. Just to see what would happen, I added 1:1 distilled water to pool water, and sure enough, ph read at 7.0. I guess I just have to keep waiting until FC is 9 or less and retested ph is > 7.2 to start SLAM? Should I keep pump at 23% or run on high til I start SLAM then decrease to 23%?
