Boost before Hurricane?

Read an article that recommended boosting SWG pools 24 hrs before hurricane hits. For me that'll be some point Saturday I would do it.

I'm a new pool owner - Hayward controller. I've read boosting runs the system at 100% for 24 hrs. Is that accurate, and how/why do I do this before a hurricane?

Welcome to the forum!
We do not believe in using the 'Boost' function on a SWCG. Uses up the life of the cell unnecessarily.
Get liquid chlorine/ plain bleach. Raise your FC to SLAM level based on FC/CYA Levels.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Stock up on Bleach in case you loose electricty of several days. You might need it.
I agree with Marty about the Boost.

I don’t think running a SWCG on “boost” (ie 100%) for 24hrs will raise FC all that much. Liquid chlorine/bleach would be much more effective.

I also second getting some liquid chlorine or PLAIN bleach (NO extras like pretty smells, chloramx, splashless, etc) to have on hand.
