Kimberly J Felines !!!! Thats not how we do. We do glad, not mad.

@akageorgi when i was having a rough go at getting equipment, Kim sent me the most magical of well wishes. Literally weeks into my search i was loading my elusive filter into my truck only hours later. Behold the rainbow farting unicorn. She will look over you the rest of the way.

is this thing on?

FYI:
i'm testing $^#^# today.

pool lost a bit since i was home Friday night, looks to be holding skimmer height, which may be a good thing...narrowing down issues.

plugged spa returns, changed spa drain valve (old one didn't have a gasket)
filling it up now...

until later...

(NOTE TO SELF AND OTHERS, DON'T TURN SPA PUMP ON WITH ALL THE SPA RETURNS CLOSED. SPA BLOWER MAY NOT STAY WHERE YOU WANT IT TO.)

The spa issue sucks!

Food coloring, pink string, nothing made its way to the suction place. Spa is still got me confused. But, I got any good news?
Yep!!! well kind of...
Was dialing in the autofill and noticed the concrete was squirting.
Autofill line pipe is broken.
Hopefully, that is the reason everything was draining down to---the autofill pipe!
Plugged the autofill return line, need a Home Depot trip to get it fixed for now.

Few more beers and I might be running for office.

(dark gloom on the horizon, probably)

Something May Have To Die.

Found that spa main drain line has a leak somewhere. Which pretty much sucks bad.
Have had to run the pool returns through the spa/spillway in order to keep new pebble plaster submerged in the spa while the world bakes us at around 90° this week. In the process I was losing about 1-3000" of water an hour out of the spa.
Currently spa drains are plugged at the spa and spa is holding water, confirming said leakage.
Although, looking at it, it could be the light niche? It is confusing because the pool waterline is exactly where the water drops in the spa.

Here are the drains plugged.
Should know in a while if it is working...
Hopefully it is the light niche. I think that would be an easier fix...

Good news is that the pool seems to be holding water just fine after I sealed off the broken autofill line.

If the spa main line does have a leak, I have found that the spa booster pump line does not seem to have a leak.

So, here are a couple of scenarios we be working on...

1.) Cut spa booster pump pipe and route it to spa in. Spa works booster dies.
2.) Cut spa booster pump pipe and "t" into both pumps add check valve to each. Both work but might blow up.
3.) Use spa booster pump line for spa main drain. Somehow fix spa drain pipe and use it as booster line.
4.) Fill spa with sand and insert umbrella.
5.) Fill margarita glass and insert umbrella.

oh and today's other issue...

That sure makes it sounds like the POOL/SPA SUCTION diverter valve is leaking and the spa water is leaking through the spa suction line into the pool.

Have you confirmed you are losing water and that the spa is not draining back to the pool and total water is staying the same?

I was gone for a little over a day, had the spillway going and when I turned it off last night the pool had dropped a couple of inches. When pool and spa are isolated the pool level stays the same.

Will replace the guts of that valve today when I get to work on fixing a broken union. hehe

Post pics of your equipment pad so we can understand your water flow that may be leaking.

How many returns do you have in the pool?

In which modes does your your spa leak down to the pool level?
  1. POOL mode - suction from pool and returns to pool, nothing should be flowing in the spa
  2. SPA mode - suction from spa and returns to spa
  3. SPILLOVER mode - suction from pool and return to spa with spillover to pool
  4. Pump off

So I did some more trial and error.
Had to replace a cracked union just before the pool return valve. While I was there I replaced the guts from the spa/pool return valve.

When in the pool off position, there was no leakage.

When spa off position water gushed up.

Ok, then I turned it back to pool off and after a few minutes water started to flow out. Maybe bad check valve, so I put a regular jandy 2 way valve in place of check valve and no leak.

So bad check valve, and bad replacement parts for check valve?
Spa filled up at 2:08 pm.
Spa drains in spa capped off.
Spa in valve closed.
Spa return valve closed. TIMES 2!!!
Taking a break if spa drains now, I'm calling Tom Hanks...
