Yes you may run it on recirc So long as the water is mixed up good for about 30 mins before you take the sample. Some people don't run their pump during the night at all.

 I sure hope it calms down for you!

So I can take the sample, turn the pump off and then take the morning sample in the same spot without ever using the pump? This could rule out any organic contaminates from the pool itself. I could then sample with just the recirculate setting the next night to possibly rule out contaminates in the plumbing and therefore potentially isolating the problem to the sand filter????

So no water circulation at all, correct? You can certainly do that, but it will not count as an OCLT and will not be an official TFP diagnostic.

Perhaps you'd be interested in taking a 5 gallon bucket, rinsing then filling it with pool water after sunset and letting it sit pool side then testing it in the morning? This way you could still circulate the water overnight and compare FC loss in bucket vs pool. Again, not a TFP diagnostic or necessarily helpful, but I sense you're suspicion of the plumbing/filter rising and understand if you wish to run experiments and share results.

2ppm overnight was a lot better than it was before, so I'm really happy to see continued signs of improvement, and am really grateful. I'm going to be so happy when you're off liquid and just back to swg :) following the successful SLAM.
