Black Algae, Wire Brush, New Plaster

In 3 hrs your swg should have made 2FC, which means you lost a total of 7FC in 3 hrs ... something is in that water or testing errors are major. Any testing questions" 1 heaping scoop, mix, drop, swirl, repeat until clear, one ,more drop to make sure it doesn't get clearer of pink, subtract 1, divide by 2 if using 10ml, that's fc, sound right? If so keep slamming

Thanks Yak but how many bathers were doing what in the pool between 1 & 4pm today? However it did drop 1 FC in 5.5 hours this morning and no bathers.

I guess I'll keep slamming. I'm very confident in my daytime tests and tonight's test with the 5ml sample was also easy to read.

Today I was told the organic problem could be inside my sand filter???

Anyway, I turned the SWG off and shut the pool down for the night hoping for minimal loss overnight.

I love hearing that confidence in testing! Great job!

Deep cleaning the sand filter once a year might be a good policy for your commercial pool, but requires reading that post and watching those videos and always carries some risk of damage to the laterals if anything goes wrong (usually easily user replaceable though, just expense). The bonus is eliminating another variable and enhanced filtration if it was messy in there.

IDK The actual tech guy at the PS did it. From a Taylor test kit, I saw clear liquid with yellow lid and another with green lid and something else I think.

Reading is as follows.

FC 19 (using a 5ml sample) so I tested it again right away.

FC 21
(using a 5ml sample)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking last night, and especially when I noticed the amount of particles in the light was way down. But then there's this morning's reading as follows.

FC 24 (using a 5ml sample)

I turned the SWG back on to 100%.

I'm not sure if I could be more discouraged.

So we're still seeing massive overnight FC drop... if that continues happening in a couple more nights of SLAMing I'll be stumped. Hopefully another 48 hours at shock or so will start showing overnight holding of FC.

I am really glad to hear about the reduced floating particulates. That is really something to be proud of, and remind yourself you're making progress!

Also, remember, it was low on FC so long it got the black algae, so who know what kind of bacteria and just on the verge of blooming algae you also had hanging in there, so there was probably a lot to kill and it does look like you're making progress on FC holding if I mentally compensate for SWG off time. Stay the course for another couple days and let's see if we can see some gains. Science is on our side here. Bleach sanitizes and you're adding bleach regularly and verifying you get the FC rise you desire - so progress is inevitable.

Believe and trust this pool is becoming Trouble Free. Think of it no other way. 100% confidence and no doubt! You got this!

Reading is as follows.

FC 16 (using a 5ml sample)

I added a gallon of 12.5% bleach through skimmer #1.

DUDE! What in the world????? You just can't win!

You know what? Take and share a pic of the water looking down at the main drain. I want to see this water.

I tried to add the picture but it said I was over my limit or something and I don't know what to do. Ok check my avatar. It's the best I can do for now.

That water could not look any better! NICE! Psssssst if you become a supporting member as seen at the top of the page you will get a discount on testing stuff and more pic storage. We used to say use photo bucket but they got greedy and started asking for $399 a YEAR
