What is the best sand to use in my filter and where can I purchase it

The only sand we recommend against based on many documented bad experiences is Quickcrete brand. All other pool sands are identical and there's no reason to go with one over the other.
Is there a difference in size of the granuals or are all identicle. Does a certain "size" provide for better filtration?
