Balancing Water after Liner Replacement

I am having my vinyl pool liner replaced this week, the old one was 12 years old. I have a SWG and cartridge filter. My contractor wants $800 to balance the pool after the liner is installed . Does this make sense, or should I just do it myself.

I have tested my fill water:

Chlorine - 0
PH - 7.6
Total Alkalinity - 180
CYA - 0
Salt - I do not have the chemicals to test this

whoa! Thats alot of dough$$
What test kit do u have ?
You can order a salt test on tftestkits & it would probably come in a few days
(which is pretty necessary to maintain a salt pool)
You will need to dose w/ liquid chlorine daily until your salt is dissolved & swg is up & running.
Recommended Levels
&
PoolMath should be able to tell u what u need to add but your fill ph & alk look fine.
Chlorine is paramount

$75 stabilizer (20lb) total -add it in stages like 75% then test
$180 salt (1100 lb) total - add it in stages like 75% then test
$20 10% bleach (5 gal)total- add daily according to FC/CYA Levels
$35 salt kit w/shipping
$13 muriatic acid (2gal) which u may or may not need right now but will probably last u at least a season.
So about $323 worth of stuff give or take.
& almost $500 for him to dump it in & walk off.

How did you test that salinity? Seems high for domestic water in your area of Texas. You can use that for your starting point and once you get to ~3000 ppm (what SWCG do you have?) then just make the SWCG happy so it operates.
