First time posting .

I’ve had my pool open for 2 weeks it’s 40000 gallon pool with a sand filter
And it’s still cloudy it was completely green when I opened it but turned blue in 2-3 days and since been cloudy.

The pool chemistry seems to be in range

Ph 7.7
Alkalinity 115
Calcium hardness 146 I know this is low
Free chlorine 4
Cya 68

The readings are from a pool store . I have gotten reading from multiple store and have the same reading

I have added first added clarifier but doesn’t seem to be progressing too much

Please help

Welcome to TFP!!!

You need a proper test kit. Link-->Test Kits Compared

Add 5ppm of liquid chlorine per day until you get your test kit.

When it arrives, follow the SLAM process (see link). Print it out, read it three times, and keep it with you. Link-->SLAM Process

Proof is in the pudding...Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

You pool will be clear!

Mu,

It was green because you had algae, it is now cloudy because you have not actually killed all the algae.

Our process for killing all the algae is called a SLAM as noted in the above post.

Thanks,

Jim R.

As a side note, when you are done with slam, your FC is in range when your FC is correct for your CYA. See link-->FC/CYA Levels

When you test CYA, just fill to each line. The area between the lines is logarithmic, so add to first line, look, add to next line look, when you get to a line the dot is obscured, that is your CYA value.

Consider your CYA to be 70. So SLAM target is going to be 28 FC.
