Sheer descent

Wonderful!! I love the stacked stone on the face, I have it on my spa.

Don't freak out, but the stacked stone is going to get a lot of calcium scale and evaporite deposits on it from the sheer descent. It's normal and it is easily cleaned off with diluted muriatic acid. Learning to keep your water balanced and following the TFP method will keep scale to a minimum.

Awesome pool!! Congratulations.

Awesome pool!! Congratulations.

Thanks! There is sooo much left to do though. The fire pit needs to have the rings put on and hooked up, the actuators need to be put in the valves after they redo 2 of them, the deckjets need their guts put in, I don't think the lights are wired to the right relays, coping and raised deck needs to be stained, intellichem and screen logix controller need to be installed, and old concrete needs to be busted out so I can have the sprinklers redone and throw down some sod.

Yup, it seems like the work never ends. We did a pretty big backyard landscaping project (sitting walls, turf, paver patio, BBQ island, fire-pit, plants, irrigation, lighting, etc) and I was getting pretty sick and tired of the 5:30AM wake-up noise after about 8 weeks into it. Just know that it will soon end and you'll get your life (and backyard) back.

Intellichem.....controlling pH, chlorine or both?

OK. I only asked because if you search on ORP automation of SWG's and IntelliChem (or Hayward's Sense 'n Dispense brand), you'll find that folks can sometimes have a lot of trouble with the chlorine automation part of it. The pH control is pretty rock-solid and hassle free once you get it dialed in. It's not that the equipment is bad and there's a better model out there, it's simply from the fact that ORP control can be very tricky. So just go into it knowing that you might be fiddling with the IntelliChem A LOT and don't be surprised if you find that you have a hard time keeping the chlorine up in your water. I hope it all goes well and works flawlessly, but that has not been the history of it here on TFP.

And no worries, there's plenty of us here who really want to help so if you get in a bind you know we're all ready to add our two cents....

Love the pool, awesome color to the plaster and those night photos are to die for!! Your backyard is going to be awesome when you get it all setup and done.

Hummmmm and where is the video so we can HEAR that pretty water?????????? HUH??? LOL

How does it sound? Too soft, too loud, just right?

It IS very pretty to look at!

We can and will help you learn to do just about anything with your pool. Just ask and someone will answer.

That last video is wonderful. That sound is purrfect!

Okay here is your first link to caring for your new pool.

Pool School - Start-up New Plaster

Note about the PH. New plaster and a water sheer will push it up and fast! Use GREAT care with working with muratic acid. The fumes are bad. Make sure to NOT store the MA anywhere near the bleach/chlorine or where the kids could get to it. I will have to look for the cabinet someone just bought to store the MA in. It can be locked.

So DO you have a good test kit? Look in my siggy for the ones we use and love.

Nice. Any idea how well those might hold up to an aggressive environment where I live (i.e., the desert)? Plastic outdoor "stuff" is nice but we have extreme heat, UV and, yes, cold. Temperatures can swing 30-40F easily during some times of the year and non-UV resistant material will disintegrate in less than a season.

Just hate to spend $75+ to be a Guinea pig...

No idea how it will hold up in that environment Matt, sorry. It does have decent reviews though. I just saved the link when someone on here recently purchased one for their MA because I was thinking about possibly getting one too. I liked that it had the holes for the padlock, and it's not metal. Like I mentioned above, if you look further down in the ad there are several new ones starting at $40.87 and free shipping.

That IS the one I was thinking of. Janny got it for her pool/MA. We will have to ask her but she just got it so has not had time to "test" it.

I wonder if you posted a thread asking what everyone uses to store their stuff outside you might get a feel for what works in your area.
