That's a pretty good flow rate from a house spigot an garden hose (~ 11 gpm). Most garden hoses run around 6 gpm so it sounds like you have good water pressure.
Definitely go by your measured water usage for pool volume. That is the most accurate.
Didn't the engineering drawings specify the pool volume? Another way to estimate it would be to take your surface area and multiply it by your average depth then multiply that number by 7.48 Gal/cu-ft.

I'm going to do a simple test after the pool is done. Time a 5 gallon bucket fill and see if the numbers match up. I am using a 3/4 hose so that helps but shouldn't mess up the meter. And I know pressure can change at night when nobody around you is using it. Who knows. Free form pool is not so easy to measure. The play pad and the benches take up a lot of volume I feel.
Wish I would of went out to the street meter and checked that before we started the fill up. Would of had a better idea.
There're ways to use pool chemistry to assess volume, too, somewhere on this site. I agree with you that the shelves and steps and benches must be impactful to the volume estimates.
THAT is a DEEP blue! I wonder if it will stay that deep?????

By the way, did you check the engineering drawings for the pool volume? It's typically specified on the engineering drawings.

I would have went with something like that but I am scared that it would get too warm in the summer. Please keep posting your temps next year I am really curious. I know you are in Bakersfield. I remember going there as a kid with my mom as she went on business trips. We lived near Sacramento and would drive down. I remember how hot Bakersfield felt but then again it was probably the same as what it was where we were.

Trying to figure out how to setup the lights. Got the intellibrites to sync but the glowbrites are stuck on white.
What was the trick to get them to work? Someone may be able to use what you had to do in the future.

I love the "rainbow" lights. They look awesome.
My 12 year old had one request on our pool. She wanted "Rainbow" lights. Now when we tell people we are building a pool she always tells them that we are getting "rainbow" lights. I only have 2 big LED lights in my pool though so yours is more special
