Never had an issue with the lava rocks. But if anything explodes I'll let you know
Mine came pre-mixed from ASG and I used 75lbs as well. The screen cover I ordered on Amazon for $30. Helps keep leaves and debris out of the pit.

No explosions? [emoji5] We're deciding between gas and wood burning, and if gas, lava or glass.
Can you smell any of the gas at any time when it's in use?
I wanted wood but the PB talked the wife into gas. I'm glad he did because she was never going to light a wood fire. She uses it a lot with her girlfriends. Glass is definitely the way to go but it's not cheap. I read not to use lava below the ring because it's porous and can trap gas. Glass also retains heat and makes a warmer fire than the lava.
I haven't had to clean it. I spray some water in it when I wash off the deck to rinse the dust off. Mine is natural gas which burns cleaner than propane. I think propane can blacken the glass over time. No gas smell when it's lit. If you don't light it in a timely fashion, then you smell it just like your stove.
LOL Yeah I can see where melted marshmallow would be hard to clean off of anything including the kids! BUT If you took the glass pieces out and soaked them I bet you could clean them that way. The Lave rock you could just replace as needed.

Beautiful pool, love the water color!
It looks like you have some temporary fencing around your patio area. What kind is it and how much was it if you don't mind me asking?I have a 2 yr old and need to look into some fencing.
For anyone with a pine tree near, this is a must! I have a redwood on the other side of my back wall that drops a ton of needles. I've cut the branches that hang over but it doesn't matter. I would love to cut it down but I'm sure the city would be all over my arse. I'd plant 3 queen palms in its place though. I clean this out once a week and it's about a 1/4 full everytime. Better than in my filter though!

I would suggest you cut up a pool noodle to fit around the inlet connection of that leaf canister. I find that my canister will, depending on leaf load and the way it gets twisted, lose the internal air bubble that keeps it afloat. If the canister completely fills with water it will sink and be less effective. Adding a small section of pool noodle around the hose (like a collar) will keep the canister afloat even when full of water.
Just a suggestion.
