Bait & Switch from INYO?

I bought what was listed as a Jandy Neverlube valve from INYO pools. The photo on the menu for Jandy valves was as expected but the photo on the product page for my specific valve didn't match Jandy valves. I thought it was just a stock photo of a generic diverter valve; I had used the menu to navigate to it and everything else indicated it was a legit Jandy valve. It was on backorder but I wasn'tin a hurry so I ordered and waited. I finally received it and it is the generic valve pictured, made in China. What is worse is that it's not even a neverlube; it's packed full of grease.

Did I become prey of a bait & switch or false advertising? I feel like I did; I want the real thing. I don't need this valve asap so I can send it back but with my current CS experience with INYO I feel like they're going to try to charge shipping and a restock fee on something that was their fault. Just want to make sure I'm not alone in feeling it was a bait and switch.

Link to menu clearly listed as Jandy Neverlube with correct picture, selecting the listed 4715 valve takes you to the product page linked above showing the generic valve.

@kimkats you are wonderful as always for looking out, but they are so swamped and it is so hard to get through that they all but laughed me off the phone when I asked for Rob/Patrick. To be clear they did not laugh. But I know the very kind lady who answered (on my 23rd try) was deciding quickly if she would hang up on me or not.

She asked me if I wanted her help, or if I wanted to keep trying and maybe get lucky.

‘nononononono !!!!! Please help me. I’m sorry for implying you weren’t good enough. pLeAsE HaLp ME !!!!!’ :ROFLMAO: (And for the record she was awesome. So awesome I was thrilled to get her a 2nd time a week later. Sadly I forgot her name).

knew they were busy but man..............that is BUSY
It was like that everywhere. There are several threads going at the moment with people trying to track down Marina Pools but it’s literally EVERYWHERE. I actually feel bad for them because I can only imagine how bad they get chewed out for the supply shortages. Over. And over. And over.

It a weird times for sure. We go to Hilton head island and they are all talking about how busy everything is but stores and restaurants can’t get any help.

It's definitely a really tough time right now. It's hard to find help. I'm a pretty patient guy so definitely no chewing anybody out over shortages, I'm just thankful I can get any parts. I ordered the valve a while ago and had actually forgotten about it because I wasn't too worried about it. Honestly, if I had been given the option to wait an extra 6 months for the Jandy I would have waited. I was blindsided by the substitution but I understand why they did it.

Well that is interesting..........I could not find a phone number either..............chat with us and email support was all I could find. The chat with us did not do anything. I am guessing it is because I am trying it at 6:30 in the morning. Guessing they are getting hit by the no one wants to work bug. A few months ago one of their main techs pm me here to ask if I knew of anyone that wanted a job that lived in Florida. Guessing they did not find any takers :(

I had to Google the phone #. It rang busy 9 times out of 10. Just before the ship went sideways in the Suez I had done the internet chat and it was a 40 minute wait. I got expert help from Hector when they were free, but it took some doing. And then the literal shipping problems made it worse.

@CountryBoy19 this was my ordeal that took about 40 hours of calling, surfing and visiting both far and wide.

I ordered some stuff from them to fix Texas freeze damage, the whole process was confusing and frustrating. The order was cancelled due to lack of stock after the website claimed it was in stock. Then 7 days later the order arrived which was now a duplicate since I had ordered from another source after the cancel notice. Later I ended up with surplus items and have tried 4x to get an rma , the emails say the rma is on its way but it never arrived , 3x. I'm not sure if it's simply that they are really over whelmed or of they just stopped following through.

I ended up giving up on customer service and selling the valves on FB.

I shouldnt have to name drop to get them to do what they have said 3x they would do.

Also keep in mind they are drop shipping from distributors and the rmas if you get one goes back to the distribution center and the 3rd party insists you use the original package/ boxes with all original labels and packing material so it can be resold in same box, or they will refuse the rma. The return rules make that very clear.

You guys are way to patient, if I can't get ahold of a retailer for an RMA I just dispute the transaction on my credit card and wait for them to call me...

I had a p!ss poor packaging issue when I ordered my pump from Inyo, I'm amazed it wasn't broken or missing pieces. 20 seconds and a piece of packaging tape would have gone a long way.

I've had much better service (and prices) from DiscountSaltPool.com

Just wanted to post that I believe this is finally getting resolved.

I got their phone number from my credit card company when I called to initiate a dispute. I called, they refused to return the valve because they claimed I ordered the CMP valve, not a Jandy (even though navigating to a Jandy through the menu gets you the page that shows the CMP valve but lists it as a Jandy). I began compiling documents for a dispute including screenshots from the website and such. Before submitting I decided to give one more try directly with them. I got Jolene, I asked for Patrick, she said they have 2 and wanted to know which one, uh, idk. She asked why I needed him and I described the issue. She looked up the order, found the valve and said, "No, you definitely did not order that valve. You were charged for a Jandy valve. I'm going to send an email, reply with a picture of the valve so we know it hasn't been used and we will send a shipping label."
