My Doheny's 3/4hp has a lid identical to the one in this Amazon listing.
The baffles always have large air bubbles in them and after growing algae in the basket over the winter this means a film is not getting cleaned out by chlorinated water. I worry this will become an algae seed.
Does anyone have an opinion about whether air bubbles here necessarily indicates a suction side leak? I was hopeful that enough run time with the lid shut would clear them out but it doesn't. This makes me unsure about whether it's getting recharged. Also by an unavoidable small amount of normal air sucking at the skimmer.
Being 3/4hp there just isn't ever a really powerful turbulent suction to clear them out. It's adequate flow for my filtration and solar purposes, but not excessive like my 1hp was.
My old Hayward 1hp did not have baffles in the lid. I may look at whether I can fit the wet side of my Haward onto this Doheny's pump with the 3/4hp impeller.
