I don't know what has happened but my valve pin to the backflush valve is not lining up into a notched position. How do I fix that ?

Is this a push/pull valve? If so, likely one of the piston rings in the valve are damaged not allowing the valve to go all the way back into the filter position. Happens quite regularly as those valve get used for a while, especially if the valve position is changed while the pump is running. Picture of the valve would help
