New homeowner here and trying to figure out my pool programming. I have a Pentair EasyTouch panel (with ScreenLogic) with IntelliFlo pump. I'm trying to figure out the proper way to set up schedules.

Goal is to do this:
7:30AM to 8:00AM Run Spillway at 2200RPM
8:00AM to 3:30PM Circulate/Filter the Pool at 2700RPM
3:30PM to 4:00PM Run Spillway at 2200RPM

What's the proper way to set up this schedule? I currently have the below circuits:
Pool (Pool) 400RPM
Pool Circ (Generic) 2700RPM
Spillway (Spillway) 2200RPM
Spa (Spa) 3450RPM

I can create the 3 above schedules easily on ScreenLogic but should I also be adding a schedule to have the Pool run from 7:30AM to 4:00PM? And one thing I noticed is that if I have NO schedules active and turn on the Spillway, the Pool function turns on automatically, is this normal?

Thanks in advance!

It is best for @Jimrahbe to provide guidance but it is correct that the Pool circuit should be turn on for the total duration of the schedule for the day Then schedule the other circuits to run inside that Pool circuit time schedule.
Also the Pool circuit should be set at the lowest RPM you want the pump and all other circuits to be at higher RPM.
The automation will always run the higher RPM when 2 schedules overlap.

What's the logic behind having the Pool run parallel with the other features?

Sean,

A lot has to do with what equipment your have and how you want to run your pool.

The Pump/Filter relay will not close unless you are in the Pool mode or Spa mode.. If you have a SWCG, the P/F relay must be closed for the SWCG to work. Others have devices that are wired to the P/F relay, that only come on when the P/F relay is closed.

When you have a VS pump, controlled by the RS-485 com port, you do not need to close the P/F relay to get the pump to run..

It is your pool and you can run it anyway you want, but we have found that having the system in the Pool mode, anytime the pump is running makes programming and scheduling easier for most owners..

In my case, I run 24/7, so my Pool Circuit is set to run from 8 am until 8 am at 1200 RPM as that speed turns on my SWCG.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim!

I do have a VSF pump but don’t have a SWCG so, technically, I don’t need the Pool running together with the other programs. But I did notice that when the spillway turns on, it’ll turn on the Pool pump which will stay on, is this normal?

Sean,

I don't have a gunite spa, so no spillway..

That said, I assume it is done on purpose.. For the system to go into the Spillway mode, the Intake valve has to be set to the Pool mode so that it sucks water from the Pool. The Return valve is then set to the Spillway mode, sending all the water back to the Spa.

Thanks,
