Hi everybody :), I hope you're all doing well!

I have a few ideas in mind and need some expert advice on what I should do!

I have an AquaLogic P4 with Software Revision 2.65, which I believe, based on what I've read on this forum, can control VSPs. I currently have an old (Hayward / A.O. Smith Super Pump 1.5 HP C48L2N134B3) but I'm planning to replace it with a Moov AI MP15AI. I'm wondering if it's worth wiring the VSP to the AquaLogic or not. The Moov AI pump can be controlled via Wi-Fi, but I can also control my AquaLogic through Home Assistant thanks to @mas985 with his AQL-PS-8 / P4 Remote Emulator App. According to the manual, the pump can be controlled via an external control panel, but I'm unsure about the pros and cons of this setup.

Will I still be able to control the pump via Wi-Fi, or would the AquaLogic bypass it? Does the AquaLogic allow me to select the pump speed in percentages at any time like the pump itself does? Another option I'm considering is wiring the power through the filter pump relay, leaving it always on, and letting the VSP manage its own speed.

This seems reasonable, but I also have an Excellence Deluxe 70 heater, which is quite old and not currently wired to the AquaLogic. I'm thinking about wiring it as well, although I'm not sure how to do this yet. I believe it would be much simpler to control everything from the AquaLogic, especially for increasing the pump speed when the heater is on.

Here are my ideas:
  1. Wire the heater to the AquaLogic and control it via Home Assistant, but only connect the Moov AI pump through the filter relay. Use Home Assistant to monitor the pump speed (if I can add the pump to Home Assistant) and automatically increase the pump speed when the heater is on.
  2. Wire everything up and use the AquaLogic to control both the VSP speed and the heater.
  3. Leave everything as is, meaning, have the AquaLogic controlling the SWG, the heater controlling it's on/off state and it's temperature and the pump controls it's speed itself. Basically manage everything manually, including the pump speed when the heater is on.
I've attached some pictures of the Moov AI manual showing the possible external control and some other pictures of my current AquaLogic wiring situation. Note that I'm using an external display to control it via Home Assistant.

What do you all think? How should I wire things up?

Thank you!

Hayward VSPs only. You would need to use the relays to switch speeds but you won't be able to program the pump nor get any of the settings from the pump such as speed.

Just because both have RS485, doesn't mean they speak the same language.

But it has it's own app so maybe you don't really need that.
