For anyone who has replaced the super capacitor and the 2 chips, did you have to do anything programming or firmware-wise? The electronics store that is going to do the work for me says one of those chips usually requires a firmware and he 'would be surprised if they shipped from digikey with the firmware installed'. Does anyone know if this is the case or not? Thank you in advance! I'm really hoping to avoid a $900 replacement fee for the whole control board. Just replacing the super cap did not resolve the issue so I'm hoping the other 2 chips will do it. One of their descriptions says it is a trickle charger so maybe that's why my new supercap worked for a short while and then stopped keeping time because it isn't trickle charging? Just a guess...
