Pics attached. I tried to unthread last year and it didn't seem to want to come out. Functions fine but I'd prefer to fix the cosmetic damage on the bezel.
Google "self aligning pool eyeball". It doesn't look like there are threads on that fitting - these just pressure-fit into the pipe. Try to gently wedge a stiff putty knife between the pool wall and the flange to pry it out if it doesn't unscrew out (put a towel or something on the pool wall to protect it).

Stick a screwdriver handle in the eyeball hole with the business end in your hand. Pry the screwdriver side to side so the handle contacts the inside walls of the fitting. You should be able work the fitting out without having to pry between the fitting and the plaster as that can risk damaging the surface.
