Does anyone have any recommendations for a pool vacuum that isn't a filter attachment?

I learned today (got in the pool the first time) that the bottom of my pool is drastically uneven, like, the center is 3 inches deeper, and the floor has tons of indents and uneven parts. Makes me think of a kid frosting a cake, and then taking a few swipes of the frosting with his finger.

Anyway, I need an independent vacuum because my pool filter doesn't have the best suction, and I need either something with a brush that can get in there to get stuff out, or that has strong enough suction to get debris from 2-3 inches away.

I'd also rather not spend too much money <$200, as I'm holding out hope the filter lasts the season, but if it doesn't I only got so much in the tax return and I hear prices are only going to go up.

I got a Water Tech Leaf Blaster Pro last year, and love it to death! Here's my review of it, when I first got it:

I used to use a PoolBlaster Max rechargeable vacuum on my pool. You can either put it on a pool pole or hold it in hand. It may be just what you need- Pool Blaster Max Li | Water Tech™ Official Corporate Site

I got this vacuum today and finally got the dirt spot from the center of the pool out of there. The circulation gathers most of the dirt and debris in the center. Here is my before/after. Had to clean out the filter 3 times, but it did good!

Thank you!

I'm going to keep this in mind in case we end up with leaf problems too... right now it's dead algae and sand and tiny tree bits that get caught in the floor grooves/depressions, so the other water tech device ended up being what I went with. Thank you for responding, though!

For leaves and stuff, the Leaf Eater works good. Only $30

The AG pool is pretty far from the hose hookup and I'm reluctant to use the "pour water into pool to generate suction" methodologies...

but that might be because I keep having to drain the pool with the spring rains since I opened it, so it seems like a bad idea.

I might think differently when it's August and I'm filling it for the umpteenth time...

Yeah, I get that, I actually don't use this myself. I have the Doheny Discovery robot and I love it. The last time I used this Leaf Eater vacuum with the garden hose was taking care of my parents pool as a teenager. They had a 40,000 gallon gunite pool that was 13 feet deep on the deep end. We had to add water to that sucker every other day to keep the skimmers from sucking air. :D

They make a “sand/silt filter” you can get for this vac as well. I started using that one and it picks up a lot more fine particles than the one that comes with it.

I'm not having any issues with sand/silt yet, the dirt was almost all plant matter bits, but I read that in a review (maybe yours), so I was keeping it in mind.

If you find that your Pool Blaster isn't picking up as well as it should after a while the culprit could be the filter bag. The bags seem to lose efficiency very quickly. I have stopped washing off the bag using a hose and have started rinsing it off (gently) in a bucket full of water. I've also stopped leaving the bag out in the sun in the hopes that the fabric won't degrade as quickly. I've also read some reviews where people use a nylon knee high stocking within the bag to make it easier to remove the debris.

The Pool Blaster is extremely efficient when it's working properly.
