Any Advice Before Install

I think it is accurate to say that the less voids the better and fines mixed in are better then clean rock with no fines for that purpose.

If you are not worried about freezing water then the discussion of fines is moot.

Why is it better? Wouldn't the fines hold water instead of letting the water drain off? And if the fines are not above the frost line what other purpose do the fines serve? I'm trying to get more info in order to understand the system instead of doing something just because.

This is about as far as we can take you on a Pool Forum.

Pools are built more with opinions than engineering. I suggest you find a pool engineer to discuss this with.

😂😂 I agree, lots of opinions. I have read several threads on TFP and they have been very helpful so I thought I'd start here. Thanks for the sound advice, I work with several civil engineers, I'll see what details they suggest.

I'm considering using fiberglass rebar in my concrete deck around the pool. Typically fiberglass rebar is tied together with the same metal wire ties that is used on steel rebar. I know steel rebar requires bonding, would the metal wire ties on fiberglass rebar require bonding? TIA.

The wire ties do not require bonding but you need to ensure your deck meets the perimeter bonding requirements.

I'll have bonding for the metal wall panels, pool lights, diving board, slide, ladders, stair hand rail, pump, swg, and heater. The concrete deck will be at grade level, no metal handrails or any other metal objects anywhere else. I will use steel rebar and that will be bonded which takes care of the deck bonding(?) I think that covers it?

Think of all the draining you don’t need to do and chemicals you are dumping from the pool you can’t swim in due to the rain.
