Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

One last update for today. Augustin, the tile guy, knocked on the back door. He wanted me to come out to see the work (he never does that). I couldn't believe it! He was ONE tile piece short to complete where we wanted it. We knew we didn't have enough to go under the spa waterline tile under the spillway. But our PB had said he didn't think that would matter, since there was the tile on the spillway. He said it would be ok to just finish off the main pool area.

So anyway (I got distracted)...... Augustine needed one more 1 1/2 x 2" tile piece and there were no more anywhere! But..... I had extra 2x2" Peacock glass tiles for the steps. He just beamed and pulled out his tile saw. Presto, all done! I think his last 2 pieces he placed were a little crooked, but those will be our "Amish" respectful non-perfect pieces. I'm thrilled! Tile is complete! He's grouting now. Augustin never says much about the work, but tonight he said several times, "Muy bonita!" He seemed to like the placement of the glass row below the waterline tile. It tickled me that he liked it.

So..... please note: my signature has been updated to the new build stage!!!!! (don't you hear the announcing trumpets????)
Suz.

:cop: You say this about the tile BUT do not post pics!!!!!!!!!! I am going to have them write you a ticket for excessive teasing! LOL

:bounce: How exciting that the tile is done. It is so sweet that he is so happy with what you had done! He just KNEW you would have what he needed to finish!

:punkrock: This is the closest I could find for trumpets LOL

HUGS!

Kim

You will absolutely see the tile and it will be gorgeous!!!! This is so exciting!! I'm not going to lie one of the best parts was getting the decking complete. No more mud, you can walk around. Ahhh. Yay!!! You are so close!!

Kim, Kim, Kim! I would NEVER do that to you (well unless a little bit of the  got into me - hee hee)! Check out post #565 on the previous page. Those are the pictures of the latest and last of the glass tile. But I can take a picture later today of the place where it ends, if you want.

The 'trumpets' are perfect. Thanks!

Awesome that your tile is done!! What's the hold up on PT? Is it the installer or the PT production itself? If it's so backed up thought about going with wetedge? Look at the prism matrix line!

I think the hold up on the PT is my PB. From what he said, I have to get in line, and to my knowledge, he hasn't added me to the installer's list. Grrrrrr. Personally, seeing the mess made from the decking (normal to-be-expected mess), I don't want the plaster in until this part is finished. But..... I want to be on the list! Three other TFP posters in our area began their dig around the same time as Paris69 and me, and they are finished and swimming!!! So, it has to be our PB. If I thought it was the plaster company, I would switch to WetEdge or something. But I'm confident that's not the case (great example: Sunbaby's pool). It would be extremely difficult and stressful for Suz to have to start over on the finish color decision!! Can you even imagine? I can't!!! Lol!!!!

Thank you so much, Wendy! You've just been through this - you really do know how I feel!!! I am so loving the deck part. I've been a tiny bit envious of those who have been able to walk around their pools during the build and 'bond' with the pool. I did go out a few times, but it was rarely after I was banned by my son (imagine, my son telling ME what I couldn't do) because of a silly fall. But this wonderfully smooth deck around the pool is absolute heaven. Once they evened out the dirt, I've been out every morning and every evening just soaking it in. It sounds silly, but it's made a huge difference in how I feel about the pool. She's really beginning to feel like OUR pool. Not somebody else's pool that's been plopped down in our backyard (and I'm paying for!!!).

I still plan to come visit you and your pool. But for the time being with action going on around here, that field trip will have to wait. But that gives you time to rest and prepare for your big party. When things slow down for both of us, we'll make plans!!! Later....
Suz.

I do! I felt the exact same way! The pool became a reality and not a muddy mess once the decking got in! I am so glad you are starting to enjoy it! Even before I got PT and water - I would sit out and drink my coffee in the mornings! Awesomeness!

We DO need to plan it!!! It feels like I have known you FOREVER!!! You should come to our anniversary party! What fun! But then I couldn't give you the personal attention since there would be a million other people here.

Ohhhhhh, ok. I will try to get a photo. They may not be crooked. It's hard to see twisting my head upside down. They're in an awkward area. I may not be able to get a good close up. It's too deep there for me or Nick to get in that nasty water to take a shot in front of them. .

I will! I can't post pictures from my phone.

Quick update: Four pool guys swooped in and took care of completing deck type plumbing. Should have been done 2 or more weeks ago to save the pavers extra time, but it's done! They did some sort of valves near the sun shelf and the bump-out bench for the bubblers. I'm not sure what those are for... Then they hooked up the auto fill and manual fill.

So now the pavers can go back and fill in all the little open patches on the deck. They have also begun the Travertine on the slope under the breezeway. I will take pictures this evening when we wrap up another day of errands and shopping.

Take care. Suz

Here's the photo diary for today - deck work.

Kim: The pinch hitter to finish the glass tiles. I took a better picture this evening. You may still have to blow it up to see. It's the top left little tile that's a tad crooked. Not bad, but just enough to make it cute. I will always remember this story of running 1 tile short out of ALL the glass tile I bought. Thank goodness, I had the samples. I still haven't gotten close to it because of the location, but it looks to me like it might be a little smaller. Weird, but I love it.

All of the deck photos show the stone dust everywhere - you really can't get a good idea of the color of the travertine. It's supposed to be Noche. I'm not even sure I know what the real colors look like.

The breezeway walk from the driveway. It's almost completed. The slope doesn't show well. It's a little steeper than I thought but not an issue for me.

Before the guys left tonight, they laid one more paver - just for me to step out on from the back door. I didn't know what they were up to, because they were all standing around watching the guy do it. I was standing inside looking out, and they all kept smiling real big at me. Then they asked me to come out. I thought they were finishing up that little section, but it was one more stone for me. Wasn't that sweet?

Today, they filled in a lot of little gaps which meant lots of stone cutting. When we drove up late this afternoon from errands, it looked like smoke rising up above the garage roof. My heart stopped, but then my son told me he thought it was stone dust. He was right. The sky was dusty for 30 minutes after they left.

Our poor lemon tree - in severe shock..... The lemons are holding on better than the leaves, but I expect we'll soon lose them, also. We've done the aspirin water, so time will tell. If it will just come back and bloom again next year, that will be a victory. But.... it cost us $10 from the grocery store, so we can always replace it. From that tree, Nick has made many delicious lemon bars, and a fabulous triple layer lemon cake with lemon curd and pecan filling and a lemon cream cheese frosting. All from scratch! I've never even made a 3 layer cake! He wins everyone's heart with that cake!

Finally.... a picture of our crepe myrtle - I mentioned it to JannyLee in her pool build thread. Thought I'd post it over here. I hope she sees it. We're hoping all it's "splendor" won't be too much of a headache in the pool. It's pretty close.......

Yes, I hope the crape myrtle is well behaved for you. Sometimes trees that are angels without pools become devils with them. I cut down such a tree after dealing with the devil.
And your travertine looks fantastic. Yes, nice touch by the workers. You've developed a good rapport which is serving you well.

Paris: what time were they supposed to come? I can't believe neither of yall have PT yet! I wanna call your builder!

Suz: they can do the stand up table for $2500. I asked if he could do it got $2k and he's "looking into it". He's not a negotiator I guess. He can do a table on the tanning ledge for like $600 but I don't want that. Lol. This pic shows that option.

I agree with you, Amanda. It looks more like an umbrella stand, and it's really in the way. It doesn't make sense to me.

Does that price include the bench? He's not giving you any credit for providing your own table top? I guess I don't understand that cost for a pedestal. It must be more complicated than I realize. Did you post that bid on your table thread, so the experts will see it? I don't mind at all you posting here. I was the one who asked. But I want you to get advice.
Suz.
