Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX

beautiful Suzy!! I'm always lurking lol

Thanks, Paris! Is your deck in??? Have you heard from our PB lately??? I hope he's well; I worry about his health. He's such a nice guy and gentleman.

I sure wish you would post your pool build over here. Do like some of the others do. They post them all at once with little narration when the pool is finished. I miss the narration with a build, but I'd rather get to see the photos than nothing at all. Your build is so gorgeous and in such a lovely setting. Some of your designs might be just the inspiration someone in the planning stage is looking for.

Let me know how things are going!
Suzy.

So how far did they get yesterday? Are they back today? Can't wait to see more pics!

The travertine photo in post #521 is as far as they got yesterday! I know..... I'm probably showing too many of the baby steps, but I couldn't wait. Yes, they are here today, in fact they began a little after nine this morning. Usually they don't begin until ten or so.

They were making great progress until we had about an hour of rain today. That was unexpected - one of those pop-up showers we get around here - you know about that, right!

I don't know if I will take pictures this evening. It's a mucky mess out there now with the crushed granite and sand everywhere. And the pavers they've put down are now a mess. If I could, I'd go out and sweep tonight, but that's not going to happen! Ha!!

Great to see the progress! Wait until they wash off all the dust and the true colors of the travertine come through.
I believe the skinny pipes were used to create the slope so that water on the deck will drain correctly.

I'm enjoying this part of the build - immensely! And you're right - it will all look even better when the travertine is washed. I can't tell how much longer it's going to take to finish. Maybe, they're about half way finished, but it's hard to tell because of all the curves, etc. There are still a lot of places open along the edges for the special cut-to-fit stones. I know they use a thin mortar under the stones along the concrete ribbon edges. I don't believe they have begun to do any of that yet. As long as they keep plugging away, I'm happy.

Kim: You're sweet! I'll still post pics, but I don't think there's too much to take this evening. There should be a lot to take this time tomorrow.

The Project Manager for the deck and landscaping came by again today. I'm not used to this! It's wonderful. We went over more details that I wasn't sure he remembered, but he's right on top of things. I can't believe all the extras (I don't mean free extras, but things the other company didn't want to do) they are doing compared to the other company, and the PM acts like it's just standard operating procedures! We talked about where to put the connections for the drip lines for potted plants. I'm so excited about those. I love potted plants, but as I've mentioned - soooooo bad about remembering to water them and/or lazy about it. Four were listed in the contract. I asked him how much to add another one by the back door, and he said I should have one there and no charge.

We talked about the outdoor lighting. I'm not going with as much as the first landscaper had planned. This group feels like I won't need as much, and I think they're right. I have flood lights for security, so their lighting would only be for evening or for guests. Also, they said they'd rather add more later if I see I want them, and then I'd know better where I want them. Makes sense to me.

As soon as I hired them, they had sent me an email saying they had already ordered our Mountain Laurel tree I've been wanting all my life. I didn't realize the Pm already had it at their office/yard. He was telling me today how he was babying it - watering it, and checking on it each day. Pretty cool.

They've just begun working on the slope, so I'm going to mosey on over and see how they're doing it......
Suz.

I'm glad they are giving you extra attention. It's so nice to have that contact with the people doing all the work and making the decisions. And please don't stop posting pictures. I love looking at everyone's pictures. We have a substitute superintendent. (Ours went on vacation). He has been in contact. I feel pretty good about him.
What did you decide to do in the breezeway??

Just as I walked over to the back door, the crew started to pack up. I'm glad, though, because they had begun at 9am and it was 7pm. They had to be exhausted. It looks great even with all the tools around and the junk thrown in what will be flower gardens or beds.

One of our indoor kitties, Max, does his best to escape EVERY time I go outside. He knows I'm clumsy and easy to slip by. So this evening, I decided to put on his leash and walking jacket and just take the Houdini out with me. So I do have a few more pictures. I left his brother, Toby, behind who is more skiddish. He watched from the back door. Toby is happy as long as he's with Mom. It's not so much he wants outside as it is he wants his 'mom'. He's a very big baby.

Max, finally seeing for himself what's been going on outside! He says it's worth it!

Max: Curiosity is over - doing what he loves best besides eating: lying around!

What we're really supposed to be here for - pool progress. There is a little more going along to the left of the pool on the back side. Other guys did more work on the far side of the house with the sprinkler system and drainage to the street.

Max's brother, Toby. Doesn't he look pitiful looking out those filthy windows?! Don't worry, he was happy again as soon as I went back inside.

Oz, I'm thinking 2 days. Then again, my estimates of time to finish a phase are usually wrong. So maybe Friday. Still, we're waiting on the PB to do his part about finishing off pipes and the overflow thing. So if he doesn't come around, the guys will be stalled on the deck. I guess if that happens, they will move on to the landscaping and other items.
Thanks! Suz.

Suz, are you going to desert us when your pool is built and your water is consistently balanced? If so, I need to start preparing myself now.

Where did that come from? I looked back quickly at my posts, and I don't see any hint of that. Sorry if I gave that impression, or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

I can't imagine the day when I have all the answers and don't need you guys. I'm no mad scientist like Sunbaby!

I'm a very loyal friend but will go away if no longer wanted. For the most part, I'm a 'til death do us part' kind of person.

Again, what???
Suz.

I'm not writing very clearly this evening it seems. I love your comments on others and the storytelling on yours and would miss you. Just getting sentimental.

Bmore, I just popped back to change my reply. I'm pooped tonight, so I'm sure I must have misunderstood. I'm afraid it's a severe case of old lady-itis!

I thought I had said something to make you think I didn't think I needed or appreciated all of you on TFP. I hated to think I had said something callous.

Thank you, Bmore! How very kind! I'm relieved to know I misunderstood.
Suz.

Hi Suz! Just checking in to see how you're doing. Real life took over for a few days, younger daughter just turned 16 and we did a pool party for her & her friends on Monday (it was supposed to have been on Sunday, but we got rained off!). I see your build is coming along great guns! The travertine looks amazing, but the photos I like best are your kitties. They are so sweet. I need to set up a photobucket account before I can post any more photos myself. I might need teenage help with that - ha ha!
Also wanted to say I love everyone's suggestions about your slope, hopefully you will decide on what to do soon.
Thank you for admiring our pool, we had limited space and I am just so pleased we could squeeze one in!
Keep up the good work and look forward to more updates and photos soon :D

Suz! I knew what B meant. You have become quite a fixture on TFP and we all love it! The worry B had was that once your pool is done you will fade off. We have seen it happen before and it is okay but........we would miss you and your happy self!

That kitty in the walking jacket! Oh my so cute! The kitty inside "MOM! Get back in here!" LOL

I love how they are doing the deck! I bet you are SO glad hummmmmmmmmm someone hummmmmmmmm "made" you talk to a different landscape person. LOL

HUGS!

Kim
