Another one in Las Vegas-Finaled, but not finished

Hey Beach! Just checking in on your thread. Any pretty pictures and updates? :D

I just can't seem to get any really "good" shots of the water. Seems like someone turned on the wind machine for the past week or so, and I haven't been able to get any nice ones with bright sun. Here's some I took in the morning a few days ago. After our 77mph gusts yesterday, and the brown pond I woke up to this morning, it was nice to see that at one time it was pretty and clean..LOL.

Here is the overall pool with it's shiny, clean water:

I zoomed in on the cleaner that's in the deep end:

Steps:

The spa. I was trying to capture the "shiny" water...look at the wall reflection:

Here's the main drain. Again, trying to show how clear the water really is:

I zoomed in on the bottom, you can really see the bling bling. The whole pool is like this when the sun hits it.

Last shot. This is just the reflection in the water. I was trying to capture the reflection of the tree.

We're supposed to get salted next week, and hopefully get started on the landscaping so I'll finally be able to take some night shots, and break up a bit of the "hard" look of all the cement in the yard with some plants. We're also waiting on the glass to arrive to finish the fire feature. And then, I'll have to get off my tail end and get that kitchen built. So, we're probably 85-90% of the way "there".

Beautiful pool beach! Water looks amazing, keep us updated on if the salt changes the color some. I'm looking at the same mini pebble

Will do. The invite to drop by is always open..don't be shy! (yeah, when's the last time you were accused of that? LOL) Thank you for the kind words.

Looking great! How do you like the marker tile now that it's underwater and your water has cleared?

Thank you too. The marker tile really is awesome. Even the PB went "wow" when he saw it, and I figured he's seen about everything in the 35 or so years he's been building pools. When the sun hits it just right, it gets this color that almost looks like it's on fire. I bet yours does something similar. When it's dry, it's "nice", but putting it in the water just makes it special. We got really lucky with out grout color, as it's nowhere near as obvious as yours.

If we did it over, I'd probably be a bit more vocal with the household color chooser and CFO, and pushed to have the waterline tiles more of the brown color of the stone to create less of a waterline "band", and only used the glass tile for the marker. I had originally wanted the glass tiles around the pool waterline, but it was too expensive. And it looks like with our calcium content, I'm going to have to pay extra attention to the glass tiles, as I have had to do a little extra scrubbing already. I'm not sure if that's due to the water getting dialed in or not. Time will tell.

Now that is some TFP water right there! LOVE it! That is so pretty!

Kim:kim:

Thank you so very much, I'm still learning, but TFP is definitely awesome! I can't wait to get salted, so that I can really get my feet wet playing with the chemicals. I also can't wait for it to warm up enough to swim in the pool part! We've heated up the spa a couple times now, and it's amazing! We can't get over just how "big" it is! Definitely fits in with our little family joke about our new house being a "resort" for them to stay on vacation, as we've been in hotel spas that weren't as big. The nice thing is it'll work to keep the smaller grandkids swimming even in the colder months here without heating the big pool.

Absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to hear how things go when you get salted.

thank you! Hopefully we'll get there this week. I've got her all cleaned up and sparkly again, and it looks like decent weather all week. I'm excited to see how this works. I'm pretty comfortable with keeping a non-salt pool from turning green most of the time (LOL), but this will be a new adventure, and I'm sure I'll figure out plenty of ways that haven't been invented yet to goof that up..;)

Interesting little side note while I'm at it. After our big windstorm last week, the pool looked like it had 1/4" of dirt on the bottom of it. The filter went from 2 psi of pressure to 4 after I got that all sucked up, so I figured it was a great time to see what it was like to clean the filter. In my past life, I had a single cartridge filter that I hated (poor filtration and constant cleaning because it was undersized) that was replaced with a DE filter that I loved for the filtration, but hated cleaning it and messing with the DE. So, we really struggled with which method to use in this pool, and eventually gave in to the PB's insistence that the new, multi-cartridge filters were way better than my previous experience.

Well, after my first cleaning, I'm definitely leaning towards him being correct. It was very easy to clean, and re-assembly was a snap (unlike the Chinese puzzle of a DE filter and getting the grids lined up properly). The only "mess" was the dirt that was trapped, and that rinsed away quite nicely. I'm holding off complete judgement until I can actually swim in the water, and see how many "floaties" are left in the water, and for us to get some organic material around the pool, and see how it handles the inevitable junk from them. But since it seems so easy to take apart, rinse off, and put back together, it seems like a "chore" has turned into an easy way to keep the pool up to TFP standards. Looks like the "hard" part will be when I have to spend $250 to replace 4 cartridges in a few years, instead of $10 every year for some DE.

Re: Another underway in Las Vegas

Kim, just as an FYI, in modern houses the glass doors are tempered, so they are allowed to be closer then 5' from pool edge. It is the nontempered glass and windows that would need to be replaced, or less expensive is a safety film applied to the glass that turns it into safety glass if jurisdiction allows it.
Beach,
The shotcrete guys must of hated you for all the cut details, and lack of work space, but they did an awesome job!!

That spa lends to a lot of "clothing optional" use ;)
You're supposed to wear clothing in a spa?
