I am doing all new above ground plumbing and equipment. I have a few questions:

1. Should I put a check valve on all lines both suction and discharge or should I put a check valve only on my spa return and before my SWG?

2. Do you recommend any valves other than Jandy? Is there a great brand out there for a great price or do I just need to buck up and get the handy diverter valves?

3. I have a junction box that is for my pool light and it appears also was used for the blower, is it normal to have these on the same switch? Also see picture to confirm that this was for blower.

1. Put check valve on spa return. You don’t need CV before SWG.

2. Jandy, Pentair, Hayward all have diverter valves. They are all about the same. Valves - Further Reading

3. Pool light and blower in same circuit is sort of strange. Sounds like the electrical panel may have been short of breakers and that was easiest hookup for electrician.
