Alkalinity and understanding recommendations in Pool Math

Hi!

I need help understanding where to action on the recommendations in pool math. At the top is says my ph is below ideal range, but also within target. Also my alkalinity is above ideal range but just at the top of the target.

If we ad within target, do we need to action to resolve? Also, what should we use to reduce PH?

Leslie’s recommended that we used muriatic acid weekly. Now that we have switched over to TFP protocol is that still the best recommendation?

Yes, muriatic acid is what you use to lower pH but you only need to lower it if the pH is above 8.0. There’s no need to do it weekly unless the pH rises over 8.0 weekly.

Ignore the Ideal Range, only look at the Recommended Safe Range.

There is no need to arbitrarily add MA every week. Wait until your pH rises above 8.0, then use Pool Math to calculate the approximate MA needed to lower pH to about 7.4 - 7.8.

In case it is not clear, the "Target" on the bottom is not a recommendation. It is a user input for the calculator to perform the calculation. It's possible to accidently input a bad number in the "Target". Make sure your Target is correct before adding chemicals.

Your iAqualink should have a temperature probe I would think. Do you have a pool heater?

No pool heater. Ours doesn’t have a temp probe

Jandy is as confusing with Aqualink as Hayward is with OmniLogic.

Maybe @spartyspartan needs to update their signature with model numbers and replace "iAquaLink pool robot" with "Jandy pool robot".
