I can get the algae to die in the pool water but the cleaner has algae in between all the parts and does not die. Any suggestions? Will the sun kill the algae on it if I leave it in the sun for awhile?

No, Sunlight makes Algae grow. If you take it out, and let it dry it will kill it, but its likely to come right back if things aren't balanced Chlorine wise. Has it gotten this way when you had Algae growth in the rest of the pool?
If you have proper Chlorine levels in the pool, it will kill the Algae eventually. If you have, and keep the pool Algae free it won't happen again. Do you have a good kit, and test for things regularly?
