Aiper Scuba S1 Review

My second Pro is going back tomorrow. Too much debris leaking out of the back when I take it out of the pool. I've agreed to try one more. If it has issues I'm getting a refund.

The basket set up is the same on the Pro and Standard, isn't it? I have not had this issue and I have hung it vertically (on the hook) for a minute or more to let the water drain. I have never seen debris exit the robot.

Doesn’t the Pro have a separate flat 2nd filter that looks like a furnace filter? Is it possible that debris not captured by the enclosed filter basket and then picked up by the 2nd filter that’s not enclosed be the culprit for the debris that leaks back into the pool? 🤷🏻‍♂️
I don’t see anything leaking out of my basket on the S-1.

I don't think it has anything to do with the pleated filter. That only has sand like debris in it after a cleaning. This is all bigger and darker.

Well my Nautilus CC plus has finally bit the dust. I’m 90% positive that it’s the cable as it’s all cracked and my multimeter was getting spotty continuity test results. I ordered an aftermarket cable on Amazon, but in the meantime my wife found one of these and bought it. I’m hoping it works well as I have an oval pool with an 8ft deep end and a steep incline to the shallow end. I read about half of this thread and my take aways are don’t bother with the pro model as it’s fine filter doesn’t really work and the app control isn’t really worth it. I have a Beta SE plus and a Beta 3 (which I have kept going all this time because I take apart the motors and clean and lube them a few times a year) and I really want a pool robot to run when these do. I’m hopeful I can get the Dolphin running again as I will use this daily and the dolphin once a week for a deep clean. That seems to be the take away strategy I’m seeing here. Anything I’m missing? Thanks for your thoughts and the review!

My S1 just arrived, charging it now. Went ahead and updated the firmware (super easy process). Will test it when it’s fully charged. I have a vinyl oval shaped pool with an 8ft deep end. If it’s a bust and not working well I’ll return it and try the Wybot C1.

Edit: The Vibel looks cool, hopefully it works as well as it looks. IMG_3650.jpeg

Two Bettas! Do you find the 100% increase over one Betta to be that much more effective?
In my situation, yes. I have a ton of pine trees on my neighbors side of the fence, that I can’t do anything about. After a storm or heavy winds it looks like someone went to Home Depot, purchased two bails of pine needles and dumped them in my pool. It’s so bad I quit running my actual skimmer as it would frequently clog and starve the pump of water, so in order to protect my pump I don’t use it often. I am solely relying on these two bettas. I was also an early adapter for the betas, and I’m used to them having to go back to the shop often for repairs. This way I’m not without one when that happens. It might seem excessive to have two, but not in my case. Most people probably don’t even need one. I really would have no interest in maintaining this pool if it weren’t for my robot army and my SWG.Hopefully I get my dolphin nautilus cc plus running again, then I’ll have 4 bots!
Also so far after one complete run I’m impressed with Vibel. Seems to have no issue navigating the pool in floor only mode and doesn’t even get stuck on the drains. Tomorrow we will try auto mode…

Automode seems to be working great as well. So far my only criticism with this is the lack of an ultra fine filter. Whenever I cut my grass with my riding mower on hot and dry days, it kicks up a dirt cloud that settles in the pool and all that fine dirt settles. My sand filter can’t remove it, but the dolphin nautilus cc plus can in one or two cleanings. Unfortunately my dolphin broke down after I cut my grass this week, hence the new robot. This guy isn’t touching the ultra fine dirt, it leaves it in the pool where it settles out again later. Going to have to experiment with stuffing poly fill in it. I noticed the Wybot C1 doesn’t have an ultra fine pleated filter either though, so over all (at this point in time) this thing seems fine for me and I think I’ll probably keep it.

I also have a lot of fine dirt from a rock waterfall that seems to accumulate debris then when it runs, it washes it all in the pool. The Aiper S1 picks up the dirt just fine (no pun intended). I find it works well.

I've also got so much leaf litter at certain times of the year that I turn off my pump for the same reason you mention--the skimmers clog, the pump gets starved. I'm already looking at my Betta thinking it just won't be helpful in the fall because its catch tray will fill up instantly (oak and maple leaves).

Maybe more of them...

More of them certainly helps!

I’m dealing with red clay. This stuff is a very fine powder that settles out of solution on the pool floor. The sand filter can’t even get it, unless I put DE powder in it. The DE powder solution works but always makes the flow rate slow down way to much after a few days which means I have to backwash the filter. The Dolphin solves this problem where as the Aiper doesn’t. Hopefully I can get the dolphin running again so it can be my back up and to run after I cut the grass on extremely dry days. Otherwise the Aiper pretty well gets everything else out of the pool and I’m happy with it. I had an idea I’m going to try though. Instead of Poly fill, I’m going to pick up some aquarium filter fiber pads and cut it to line the inside of the basket. I can wash this out after use and you get a ton of this material so it should last a long time. Probably going to test this tomorrow as my cable for the Dolphin won’t be here until next Saturday and all this powdery clay keeping on settling is really annoying me.

Vibel has been in the pool for 30 minutes now and so far hasn’t gotten stuck in the deep end. This is the first audition to see if Vibel is a viable candidate to join my pool robot army…View attachment 593462
You used Vibel and Viable in the same sentence. Very impressive. I like that name better than Aiper, lol.
I have one of each of those robots in my pool. Two Bettas seems like overkill. On those rare days when the pool gets overwhelmed with leaves, I just grab the pole with the leaf net and help the little guy out.
And, of course, empty the basket a little more often.
Your pool looks sparkling.
