Aeration..

Currently I don't need to aerate, but I don't like doing things last minute so...
Being I only have my returns to even hopefully cause some bubbly, when I turn them up do I set my rpm at max to break the surface?
Or, is causing a current at the surface enough?
Also, would it be ok to use a sump pump to make a water fall...splash?

I have used a sump pump on one end of the pool (sitting on stairs, short hose held on handrail with velcro and water shooting into the pool) as well as a cheap fountain. Works for us as we don't have a VSP.

Another option.. Connected to a pool return line, when I need aeration to raise pH..

Thank you Maddie & Jim, that looks simple enough...well Maddie's system does anyway.

Jim, I take it you're using PVC pipe with an elbow on the jet return, a T for the hold down & top pipe...drilled holes? And 2 end pieces.
Is that how you made it?
If so...
How is it connected to the Jet return? Adapter screw in?
If not....please explain.
I guess I could do it Maggie's way with the Aqua Comb filter cleaner on the end to get a little more splash.

How long does it take your PH to raise 1pp.? Estimate.

To use my aerator I have to unscrew and remove one of my return eyeballs.. I then have a simple PVC adapter, that has a 1.5" threaded end and a short piece of 1.5" PVC pipe.

Once the adapter is installed, the the aerator is connected to the adapter with a short piece of rubber and two worm gear band clamps.. Sounds worse that it is..

I only need to use it once a year or so when I need to lower my TA at a rent house I have...

A better option might be to use a sump pump to send water to a simple PVC pipe with holes, like mine, to give you a little more aeration action. This would mean you would not have to mount it to the pool return line..

Thank you Jim, I'll probably go the sump pump way, if I can't find the adapter needed.
Question, could you have used PVC glue to connect the adapter to the PVC pipe?
Or will the glue affect the pool chemistry?

The only reason for the rubber piece is because you have to screw the adapter into the Return pipe.. It would be impossible to do that if it was all glued together..

The rubber piece lets me screw in the adapter, and then connect it to the aerating pipe..

Hi Jim,
I decided to do as you did, without the clamps...just pushed in together for adjustments and ease of storage.
In the pic the pump is at 2200, and all seems well, no parts popped out...yet!

Yes, that became apparent to me when assembling mine...I thought about that question and felt like Bonehead!
