Hi, we just had pool resurfaced with a pebble finish. When plaster guys were working we repeatedly pointed out unevenness (hills and dips). When they were done our contractor said it looked great. Pool is full and when we turned on the light we see a moonscape.

We really like our pool contractor, and he comes highly recommended. He says this is a normal hand troweled surface, and the only option is a complete resurfacing.

I'd like to hear if there are any other options? We can just live with it, and follow the suggestion of running the pump when the light is on to disturb the water. However, I hate it and I hate the thought of paying for shoddy work.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to TFP :)

You will see everything at night.. They are correct as it is a hand applied surface and you will see it... Some are better than others at getting it flatter.. if the install is good and the plaster is good I would count your blessings because there are many that did not turn out anywhere near good..

Looks fine. A plaster pool is not smooth like sheetrock.

Wow, thanks @cowboycasey and @ajw22 for the quick feedback. One last picture before I put this issue to bed. This was the surface before adding water. Do you guys still agree this is typical? Again, thanks for the guidance! My wife thanks you 😀

It could have been flatter but it really looks like a good plaster job... Every plaster pool is a work of people and every one has its own skin, this is your pools skin and no other pool has it, enjoy it.. Now you have a story, you can turn the light on at night and tell your friends about your moon landing in the pool.. :)
