I'm coming into my second winter with just running our 880 gallon spa (we close the 10,000 gallon pool in the winter here in CO) and am already battling the chlorine level. We use the Pentair IC-20 SWG and I am constantly having to test the water, adjust the SWG % through the Pentair app, open the cover if chlorine is too high, turn off the SWG for a few days, add chlorine if it drops to zero to get the SWG going again, etc, etc. And trying to factor in the impact of occasional use (1x-3x every two week) and wild temp swings in Denver makes it impossible. It's a huge headache! I typically set the SWG between 3%-8% and even at that level, I can get >10ppm FC in 2 days if we don't open it. And heaven forbid we leave town for a week- I have to choose between coming back to super high FC or no FC and possibly a green tub. Should I just turn off the SWG for the winter and manually maintain the chlorine? Still a lot of work (and doesn't solve for out of town) but seems like less guesswork. Thank you!

How are you controlling the system? Automation? Please add what you use to your signature.

I'm not sure what you mean- I use the SWG to maintain the chlorine level and add other chemicals as needed (liquid acid, granule conditioner or baking soda). I recently added liquid chlorine to the pool/spa system prior to shutting down the pool to address algae. How should I update the signature? Thank you!

What automation system do you have? You said you adjust the SWCG with an app. Is that Screenlogic?

If you have Screenlogic, then you have either an Easytouch or IntelliTouch automation. Do you have a dual body system?

I don't know that I have any "automation". When the pool was turned on I discussed some sort of Intellichem with the installer but it was a whopping $7K so I passed. Where would I look to see if I have an Easytouch, IntelliTouch and/or dual body system?

Post a picture of your equipment pad. There is likely a large box with Pentair on the front. Open and post a picture of the inside.

Looks like I have the Easy Touch and attached are the pictures. I'm currently running the pump 24/7 at 1,800 rpm and the temp is set to 76F.
