I'm coming into my second winter with just running our 880 gallon spa (we close the 10,000 gallon pool in the winter here in CO) and am already battling the chlorine level. We use the Pentair IC-20 SWG and I am constantly having to test the water, adjust the SWG % through the Pentair app, open the cover if chlorine is too high, turn off the SWG for a few days, add chlorine if it drops to zero to get the SWG going again, etc, etc. And trying to factor in the impact of occasional use (1x-3x every two week) and wild temp swings in Denver makes it impossible. It's a huge headache! I typically set the SWG between 3%-8% and even at that level, I can get >10ppm FC in 2 days if we don't open it. And heaven forbid we leave town for a week- I have to choose between coming back to super high FC or no FC and possibly a green tub. Should I just turn off the SWG for the winter and manually maintain the chlorine? Still a lot of work (and doesn't solve for out of town) but seems like less guesswork. Thank you!
