Hi all, I have just recently set up a 14ft pool and need to add Chlorine as currently the water doesn't have any. I have bought some Shock Chlorine Granules but unfortunately I have been sent Non Chlorine Granules. Can I still use these or do I need actual Chlorine Granules to initially kick start the new pool so that it has actual Chlorine in it. Thanks

Welcome to TFP! If this is an outdoor pool, it really would be better if you could find a chlorine product in your area such a liquid pool chlorine or simply regular bleach (same thing). Non-chlorine products tend to complicate things for outdoor pools by messing with certain tests or impacting other levels. It might also help if you update your signature with all of you r pool and equipment info. Perhaps include which test kit you use as well.

Don't forget to review our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry. A great place to start for pool chemistry. Have a good day.
