You just have to pick what you want to risk. If you are not on the beach or in the bottom of a valley where the water table is high, it’s probably fine to drain. You can try digging a hole and see how far you can get without water seeping into the hole. There’s also surveys you can probably review to better understand the risk.I wanted just to drain and fill but people speak about pool popping and thats worse than iron stains.
Or if you follow the no drain exchange details it helps to reduce the water waste. Of course make sure you’re not refilling with iron saturated water.
