A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

Since Denise posted in her thread about scuppers, I will also. http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/wallspringDS.pdf
We are going to get them in "Natural." I need to ask what that actually means - is it stone or metal or plastic? I think our designer said he could get a sample for us to look at.

We like the higher rate of flow, so the second group, sconces, would be where we'd pick. I don't really want them to have a "peeing" look. Right now we like either the Polynesia or the Sonrisa. Thoughts?

My scuppers were hand built. They made basins "like a sink" with gunite and then plaster. A mini pool if you will. They used matching flagstone for the spill tray. Check out the pictures on my build thread.

Blaze, if we would have thought ahead (or looked at tile earlier-that's our fault!) we would have done it. We had seen at QDI scuppers built from square travertine pieces that we really liked, but after talking to the PB and designer, it would have meant cutting into the bond beam and steel to build the little basin. It also would have meant more money. So we are opting for these which attach to the wall and are okay with it.

I feel like a perfectly good week was wasted- no work done. So frustrating! Finally heard from them today. Scuppers are ordered. The designer ordered 3 of several so whatever we don't like they'll send back. Those should be here the end of the week. Once those are in they will install the travertine on the back wall and then the scuppers. Paver grading will begin Monday because it's supposed to rain this week. We told them they can start paver installation no earlier than Wednesday because we wil be in San Diego from the 12-16.

I feel your pain on the wasted time. I'm trying not to think of how much further along in this process I could be if there hadn't been so much wasted time. Oh well...moving on.

That's wonderful that your people are ordering in those scuppers for you to see in person. I'm having such a hard time with just this catalog to look at. I'm concerned I won't like them in real life.

San Diego! Business or pleasure?

So basically I shouldn't schedule any pool parties until there is water in my pool. Lol

I wouldn't plan anything that involves the pool being done until the pool is actually done. Honestly that was one of the biggest stress factors for my wife. I think first it was the 4th of July. That didn't happen so then she figured we could have a pool party for my oldest's bday. That didn't happen either. Each of those dates caused her to get stressed and even though we told the PB we wanted it done by those dates of course that never happened.

I'm hoping it will be done in time for my daughter's visit from Denmark in June. Then my twins' bday in August. I'm feeling that stress already so I can only imagine how your wife felt.

Thanks again Umm. I should give up all hope. Got it. [emoji1303] Lol!

Well, umm's build is the longest one I ever heard of, so I wouldn't expect THAT much delay (or builder mistakes, oy vey). We went from dig to shell in 5 business days -- Monday-Friday. It was another 3 months until the landscaping was done. And I still don't have plaster, but that was by choice. Hang in there!!

I'd add a month to any end date estimate. That will cover about 80-90% of builds.
