A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

You'll definitely need to chronicle the table(s) as you go so we can ooh and ahhh. I was an art and crafts major in HS. I love woodworking! Haven't done any in years though, but will be eager to see your project.

Hi Janny! It's all going kinda slow right now. The utilities -gas and sewer- are supposed to be marked this week. Electrical, phone and cable are all overhead so that's not a problem.

They can't layout the pool until the tree comes down. No timeframe on that but I thought it was supposed to happen soon. On the other hand, we aren't pushing them either. We don't have to make a first payment until dig so no rush right now. But if I don't hear about the tree this week I'll shoot the PB an email. Thanks for asking!

haha Maybe there is a tree guy like mine in Houston that can come pull it out quick.

Heard from the PB today and they have a tentative schedule.

Friday - tree removal
Monday - precon meeting and pool layout
Tuesday - city inspection
Wednesday - excavation

Hubby needs to check his work schedule but I think this timeframe is okay. This is getting very real!

I think I'd be more excited if we didn't have to cut down the tree. I'll probably even shed a few tears over it.

I'm also having "what am I doing? What if I don't like it?" thoughts. This will probably all go away once the tree is gone and digging starts.

Honestly this feeling might not go away until you have water. Having all that dirt/mess in your yard really doesn't help things. It is when it is complete and cleanup is done and you can start living life in your yard is when you really feel satisfaction that you put yourself through such an ordeal. That is how I feel even though I am still having to deal with the jerks every week. I can't wait until they are out of my life.

I think this is probably true. While everything is going pretty smoothly here, the moments of anxiety and the resulting exhaustion over various things take their toll and I wonder if the whole pool thing is such a great idea. But it is, of course. You just have to weather the emotional times and remember the end result that you envisioned to get the ball rolling in the first place. But it's sure a process to get there!

Good luck! It sounds like things are going to start getting fun really soon!

Marla...I'm sure you will find a way to enjoy the experience. At the end of the day the journey is as exciting as the destination. Just like this journey to our pool dreams on this forum - it's priceless.
