16k gallon pool - what filter should I have?

Tell us more about your pool/spa.

Pool volume?
Pump manufacturer and model?
Motor horsepower?
Heater? Is there a heater bypass installed?
How do you chlorinate?

Does the spa spill over better when the filter is just cleaned?

Usually, bigger is better.
In Florida, pool builders seem to use tiny undersized filters for some unknown reason.

i have asked multiple questions over and over, So i really appreciate you all... one last question...

The fine particles I have, I am being told both by the resurface company and Pinch a Penny that upsizing to a larger filter would help reduce finer particles because the 1.5 gallon pump would not be pushing as hard to get the water through it...

IS that true or false? Right now my c1200 is 120Sq feet... they are suggesting at least 200sq foot filter

screen in pool
single speed pump (Hayward 1.5Hp)
Pentair 400 heater
Pentair SWG (Ichlor30)
about 15-16K gallons

Spa spills over into pool 1 return in space pushing straight towards spillover (the push of the spillover varies through the day and really doesnt change clean or dirty that much

I think the liens are on the smaller side maybe 1.5 inch?

I am getting thousands of particles floating in pool and everything tests well by two different pool stores. I am being told that a larger filter would catch finer particles... is that true?

my pool guy added flocculant Tuesday and they are coming to vac to waste into the street. this morning before the sun came out, i still saw thousands of particles floating in front of the light... suspends and kind of moving around.

wondering if the problems is the filter is too small and upsizing would help

ok here is a phot of my pump and pool... I barely have room for my existing cartridge filter (tight space). What size would you recommend and do you think it will do a better job grabbing the smaller particles because it doesnt push ash hard?

Post pictures of your equipmemt pad from a few different angles.

A cartridge filter in the 300-450 square feet range would better suit your pool volume.
For some odd reason Florida pool builders use undersized dinky little filters.

I believe that with that cartridge filter you have, you can increase the size of the cartridge and turn it into a C1750 although that doesn't help all that much. Even a 200' sq-ft filter isn't all that big.

What is the distance between the pump and the fence?

There might be enough room for a larger filter such as this:

It needs less than 2'.

The footprint of the Pentair CCP series filters (240, 320, 420 520) is about 22 inches. The height of each size filter is different. Since your present filter is of a small diameter and it appears there is little room for a larger diameter filter, the filter location could be changed or the plumbing and placement of other equipment could be altered.

Post pics showing a wider view of the area.
