First winter with hot tub, ice on path?

From our hot tub to the sliding door of our house is about 10 feet of cement. After we get out of the hot tub there is a wet path to the door and almost a puddle infront of the door how do we keep from getting ice build up?

We have dogs so I can't use salt there...

There is pet-safe salt ( or whatever it really is) readily available. I use it on the driveway where the dogs walk regularly with no problem. All the big box stores carry it.

You could try chicken grit. It's less messy than sand (but still a bit messy), and still works for traction as temps get down below 20.

At ski chalets, I've seen people lay out towels on the way out while everything is dry cold, and pick them up or peel them up :) on the way back in.
