We always recommend a good test kit, its the basis of what we practise which is to test the water regularly, add only what you need using chemicals with the least side effects to make keeping a pool cheap and easy. Both of these kits are only available online http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/124-pool-test-kits-comparison
I would suggest in the meantime you add liquid chlorine or bleach to keep your chlorine levels up. As for how much its hard to tell without testing to know where you are at but i would add about 100oz of 8.25% bleach daily till your kit gets here and we get reliable test results
You may also want to get some muriatic acid to lower your ph. You may need stabiliser but only if you have not added any solid forms of chlorine to your pool.
