10+ FC consistently

FC is off the charts. I’ve added 30 drops using the Taylor test kit and still nothing.

swg is on 0%.

Is it bad to have chlorine that high consistently? Nobody has complained at all while swimming.

Too much chlorine? 42 drops of reagent into 10 ml sample and its still dark pink.

I'm puzzled as to how i can not get the sample to turn clear, I quit after 42 drops, as I don't want to waste all my reagent. And pink color is not even getting any lighter. 42 drops in 10ml is 21 FC. I had chlorinating tablet floating in the pool for 3 days and this is what I came back to...

Yes definitely am. Even the test strips (I know not too accurate) are showing 10+.

Have you tried doing a 5ml test (1 drop equals 1ppm) or a diluted sample. It's not as accurate but it will give you a ball park

Yes but I ran out of drops I had to use so many between the 10ml and 5ml. I was at 15 drops.

One problem is my pool gets no sun. I’m having trees cut down to let the sun in.

Is having high FC dangerous to the pool equipment?

FC would need to be well above 24 ppm for awhile to damage your liner.

Realize that 15 ppm FC is not all that high for a 60 CYA --- SLAM level is safe to swim in and that is 24 ppm FC.

How are you adding chlorine? If the SWG is off?
