1.5 HP pump

Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me. Last year I noticed my pump was cracked. So we bought new one without noting the size of the old one. Stupid I know. I have a slide that requires water pressure to work. It worked perfectly before the pump change over. I bought a 1.5HP pump. The slide only works if I plug up one of the jets. Did I buy the wrong size pump ? Will a 2HP do the trick? Or do I need a 2.5 HP. This is a 18X36 in ground pool with slide.
Please help. I do not want to buy the wrong pump again.
Thank you

Hate to ask - but what was the pump size you replaced originally?

The best would be the size you had originally, but in a two speed version. Then you can run on low speed unless you want the slide. Or a Variable speed, and that basically covers everything.

K,

Seems to me that your best option would be to buy a smaller pump or booster pump just for the slide..

Show us a pic of your equipment pad...

Does your system not have a way to select where the return water goes? Does the slide run continually?

Thanks,

Jim R.

That I do not know. It was trashed before I could figure out the size.

I will add picture when I get home from work.
The system has valves to direct water to the skimmers only, or the bottom drain only or open them both to run it all. The slide doesn't run constantly. There is a valve at bottom of slide I pull out when I want the slide to run.

OK -- any room to put a valve between the junction to the slide and the pool returns?
