Do you always shower before going into the pool?

I work as a mechanic - shop foreman - shop manager. I have been known to come home and strip off my clothes as I walk from my truck to the pool, and jump in to get the grit/grime/sweat off of me before going into the house.

New to Testing with the TF100

For the furtherance of you education in what reaction certain chemicals will have with your water, may I direct you to my signature. There you will find a link to the old "Pool Math" (Web version). It has a section at the bottom of the page that you can play with to see predicted results of...

    Liquid Chlorine from last year..

I order a 55 gallon drum of 12.5% every year, and it serves to get my pool up and going the next spring as well. As a matter of fact, I JUST received my yearly supply this morning. I opened my pool on Easter weekend, and my old batch has done fine until now. It gets refilled when the level gets...

    Shrimp or copepods in pool?

more good news is as your water warms up, they will die off.

    liquid Chlorine vs Bleach

My wife gets me to pump out some of the 12.5% I use in the pool anytime she needs bleach. It is the same thing only stronger, and without the additives that you get in the laundry aisle.

    Stenner pump stopped working.....

I have had mine in service for 4 years now without a problem. So yours is an anomaly if it is actually broken.

Any downside to a large pool? 24’x50’

The first "Downside" I can think of is that EVERYONE you know, or have known in your life will want to come for a swim! :swim:

    Feeling a bit Gun Shy

And yet Empirical data collected by yours truly seems to contradict that. If I test my CYA when the water temp is <70, I will come up with a result that is low. Once I warm the water to >=70 it tests higher. I have been doing this for a couple of years, and have found the results to be...

    Feeling a bit Gun Shy

The one thing I keep seeing missing that no one else has mentioned is TEMPERATURE. The CYA test is swayed by the water temp. (As I have found out here in Alabama)

    so confused

If you could post some links to the adds for the pools, we could take a look, and give you an opinion(or6). The information you gave us really does not give us much to go on. BTW, Welcome to TFP!

    Added DE to Sand Question

I would only add it to the 1PSI increase point, and look at back-washing it when it runs at 25% past that mark. This method is done at the END of a slam, to "polish" the water, and get it crystal clear. Others will be sure to chime in if I am wrong.

    Liquid Chlorine feeders

I second the Stenner, but I skipped the 15 gallon tank, and buy mine 55 gallons at a time. :)

1st time pool, new home, long time closed IG pool, Surprising find!

As far as a SLAM is concerned, I would start by putting in enough CYA to bring you up to 30. Up your chlorine accordingly, and see if it holds where it should.

How long can I store stabiliser?

Acids can be stored for years without any problem.

    LEAVES!!!!

The floc should resettle. Try not to disturb the water as much as you can so it does it as fast as possible. Once everything settles back down, vacuum to waste.

Bulk Sodium Hypochlorite vs Calcium Hypochlorite

This is what I had 2 years ago... I will take updated pictures this year, and post them for you as soon as I can. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/my-set-up-so-far.147014/

Bulk Sodium Hypochlorite vs Calcium Hypochlorite

A barrel lasts me a year. (I will be opening the pool with this same barrel next year) I have a barrel buried into the ground beside my equipment pad that I siphon the new one into when I refill. I built an insulated cover for it. When I get it it is less than a week old. I use a Stenner pump...

Bulk Sodium Hypochlorite vs Calcium Hypochlorite

Well, I JUST helped them load the newest barrel of bleach into my truck... The price is now $148.50 for a 55gal drum!! :kim:

Bulk Sodium Hypochlorite vs Calcium Hypochlorite

I contacted the pressure washing companies in town, and asked them where they get their bleach from. I did mention that I was looking for it to use in my pool so they didn't think that I was setting up shop to go into competition with them. :)

    My skimmer doesn’t work?

Dutch works! I cut out the dome of plastic because I was tired of cleaning it all the time. I now have to clean my pump basket more often as a result, but I can live with it. :)

    My skimmer doesn’t work?

I also flipped the gasket that is INSIDE the body to be on the outside, so that when suction is active, it closes it. I remember now (it has been about 3 years since this skimmer has been in place). The picture I uploaded is with my 2 speed pump on LOW, which is LESS than 3500l/h. Let me get...
