AGP - How many seasons did you get out of your pump?

Not sure, it was making a totally different noise and hubby told me to order another one. I assume he looked it over to see if it could be fixed but I will have my father look at it. His pool boy buddy told him they don't last that long but then other pool owners were telling me they have...

AGP - How many seasons did you get out of your pump?

I have an aquapro 2hp / 2 speed canister pump/filter from poolfactory. This one - AquaPro 2HP 2-SPEED PurFlow Pool Pump w/ TEFC Motor as this system - AquaPro 190 Cartridge Filter System - APF190PRO It was a great pump for the 4 seasons it worked. I am wondering if I should just buy the...

    Above ground salt pool

We do. I bought a pool that allowed me to use a salt generator and not void my warranty. On our 3rd season and no issues.

Clear solar cover or full sun?

hmmm, I always felt it heated much faster sitting in full sun. I need to get three small pools and blue, clear and nothing and do an experiment! I guess I will leave the clear cover on for now.

Clear solar cover or full sun?

We just got a clear solar cover. We have always used the blue ones and I take them off during the day because the full sun heats the pool way faster than the blue cover. This year we got a clear one and now I am not sure if I should leave the cover on to heat up the water or open it up for full...

    Favorite AGP gadget / accessory?

I would love to see your favorite add on to your above ground pool! Looking to get some new stuff for this season.

Is my pool saveable? (Pics attached)

Oval pools have those waves in the straight run. Mine is not as pronounced as that but we also have a newer buttress free pool so maybe that makes a difference? If you look in this pic you can see the left side is not straight by the shadows.

The jhook liner was very easy.

Looking at first above ground pool, a bit overwhelmed with options.

Oh and on the vacuums, if you will not have a deck and are getting a higher wall it can be a pain to vacuum outside the pool. Our wall is 54" and I am 5' 8". I can manage the vacuum outside the pool but it is a pain. I usually get in and vacuum but when the water is cold that is no fun. I would...

Looking at first above ground pool, a bit overwhelmed with options.

The pool factory has 20% off pools right now. We ordered our saltwater 8000 through them and I could not be happier. They only have 15' not 16' though. I would do a search on the forum for the model you are looking at and see who has it here. I would highly recommend an oversized two-speed...

    Best place to purchase filter?

Well I have been trying to get hold of Pleatco support because they don't seem to have a matching filter cartridge. I used their part number search and nothing came up. I checked their measurement search and they have a matching diameter 9 3/4 but mine is 24 1/4 high and they don't have anything...

Best method for warming pool water with solar cover

I get my water temps up more with the sun than I do with the blue solar cover. I usually pull it off during the day if the pool is in full sun and the air temps are warm then put it back on in the evening to retain what heat I got. I have heard people say the clear covers are better for warming...

    Best place to purchase filter?

There was an issue with it when I was cleaning it after we closed the pool last year. I can't remember exactly but I think it was like disintegrating a bit. That was 3 seasons with that cartridge. How long should they last?

    Best place to purchase filter?

I need to replace my filter cartridge and this is the one I need - AquaPro 190 SQ. FT. Replacement Filter Cartridge Are there generic ones that are cheaper or is this something you should go with the pump manufacturers options? I didn't realize how expensive these things are.

    Volleyball for AGP?

\ When I was in highschool we did a youth group activity where we used a real watermelon that was greased with crisco or something and we did steal the bacon with it. A couple of kids almost drowned but it was soooo fun!

Deck build. Above below or even with pool coping/top rail

I wanted the deck above but we were really worried about not having enough space for the cover or if we needed to remove the rail to do a liner replacement. I did not want to have to take the decking boards off in order to get to the rail. I spoke to two contractors to try to figure out how to...

    Volleyball for AGP?

I did a search and could not find any newer posts about this. Been looking for a volleyball net to put on the pool but do not want to drill into the top rail. I do have a deck on the one side but the other is open. The products I have found have pretty bad reviews. Anyone have a setup they like...

Low water in AGP after winterizing

There must be a leak somewhere for it to go down to only a foot of water. That is odd that you have a leak now after it being fine all summer.

AGP how long last? How big to go?

We have a 18' x 33' oval with 54" wall and it is perfect. I am 5' 8" and can actually swim really well in it. I would get the biggest footprint possible. I like the oval because I can be floating on one end and the kids are playing on the other. You will never say this pool is too big! (see...

    Above ground salt water pool

I have the saltwater 8000 and noticed the finish is bubbling where a little bit of sand/dirt was against the wall. I posted pictures of it in a thread I started about keeping the exterior walls clear. I thought it was the crushed stone rubbing the finish but it appears to be from moisture where...

    bricks or pavers

I am all about doing what the manufacture says as to not void the warranty with them or the installer, LOL. If the manual says to use pavers, I would use pavers.

    Deck Ladder recommendation

I have the confer curve step with add-on section. I weighed it down with some jugs filled with rocks and we drilled extra holes in it to let water flow in. I did not want to do sand because I have heard of it collecting algae. Love these steps so far.

Should bottom of walls be kept clear?

So I looked at it a bit better. The bubbling of the paint only appears to be where the sand/dirt was sitting against the wall. It is annoying because the pool is rated to be buried up to 27 inches! It is purely cosmetic appearing at the moment but I am going to send pictures to the manufacture...

Should bottom of walls be kept clear?

The brown stuff is just dirt/sand the pool was siting on. The stone is normally up against the walls (maybe an inch) but I pulled it away to show the bubbles. We don't get water pooling around much but I do notice condensation on the walls frequently depending on the water temp. I suppose that...

    Seriously considering an AGP...

You could fit 6 adults in is 16 ft but you're literally just going to be standing without much room to move around. You can't go by the pictures on the boxes they make them look so much bigger lol. Get something to Mark out a 16 foot circle and then get a few people to stand in it and you'll see...

Should bottom of walls be kept clear?

All the posts about Rusty walls have me looking at my pool. Our above ground is 2 years old and we have a bit of crushed stone around the base. I pulled some of the stones away and you can see it looks like the stone roughed up the paint which is bubbling a bit but there's no rust of any sort...

At what age of your pool do you start to worry about it's integrity?

So is it advised to just replace the liner on a specific time line? I'm wondering if you are not having an obvious leak should you still plan to replace the liner anyway?

    AGP pool ideas

Just to keep in mind it can get pretty pricey if your sinking the pool and putting the deck around it. Our pool itself cost 10,000 once everything was done including water deliveries. I bought the pool online and had a contractor install it which was much cheaper than the pool places. Then we...
