Need Help - FC is out of control

What Texas Splash said. We have a similar size pool and also in Florida. This time of year I run my SWG (rated for a 40K pool) at 5-10% less than 8 hrs a day at most on a timer and some days I turn it off when the water is colder and less sunny and the Fc goes up. Our pool is more stable pH...

CYA level dropping too fast and SWG not keeping up.

I have an SWG. So unless I need to SLAM I dont have to supplement. But if I have trouble keeping up my stabilizer, especially when out of town, maybe tabs are worth considering since they also have CYA. Thanks.

CYA level dropping too fast and SWG not keeping up.

Thanks much Chris and thanks for digging in on the logs (admittedly a bit incomplete at times). I use a 2006C Taylor test kit. As I mentioned it has been difficult to get the CYA up and holding. The CYA levels seem to drop at a rate much faster than the Salt level which leads me to believe it...

CYA level dropping too fast and SWG not keeping up.

For a while now it seems like my CYA levels are dropping faster than expected, much faster than my salt levels drop (percentage) due to rain over flow. While out of town for 10 days the CYA dropped from 60 to 30 ppm while the salt level only dropped from 3400 to 3100. This CYA instability...

H2O-based urethane sealer dripped in pool - cloudiness

I gave the enzymes a few days or more. Whatever the “cloudiness” was from this urethane sealer, it wouldn’t completely filter or break down at least over a couple weeks. Most people (maybe not TFP people) would not have noticed... but the water just still seemed dull to me from the surface and...

H2O-based urethane sealer dripped in pool - cloudiness

The Natural Chemistry didn’t do squat. I finally did a water exchange. Did the trick. Added water in the sun shelf while pumping out with a submersible pump in the deep end. Done in about 20 hrs with the exchange. Got everything balanced again in a day or so. Not as painful as I thought...

Best water exchange method for these conditions

I don’t get it either. A few drips of this two part water based urethane product clouds up the water pretty fast. After the initial coat also with some drips, the water cleared up to my normal in a couple days. They had to come back to put on another coat with a micronized polypropylene...

Best water exchange method for these conditions

I guess I shouldn’t have heated it for the wife... Natural temp would be low 70s but its gonna be a warm week.

Best water exchange method for these conditions

Our water chemistry is fine but ever since our travertine coping was sealed with some dripping from the water based urethane sealer product, the water has not been quite the same sparkling clarity. We have a plaster saltwater pool 11K gallons and the current pool temperature is about 80°. I...

H2O-based urethane sealer dripped in pool - cloudiness

My Pool Math chemistry is linked here in my profile. I am raising the Fc in case.

H2O-based urethane sealer dripped in pool - cloudiness

Yep cleaned the filter which was pretty new. Been runnng the VS pump 24/7 at 1700-2800 rpms or higher since. We have been getting a bunch of pollen for a couple weeks but still it seems cloudier since the urethane drips to me.

H2O-based urethane sealer dripped in pool - cloudiness

Wasn’t sure which forum to post in for this. We had our paver deck and travertine coping treated and sealed. Some of the water base urethane sealer dripped from the travertine coping edge into the pool. It quickly caused water cloudiness and some flocculated, grainy urethane material was also...

    Speed Stir Usage question

The latter. You read the number or drops it takes to stop changing color. It may change to lighter red first and with another drop go brighter red. Use that number. Also, with new kits and particularly in dryer weather, static electricity on the tip of the R-009 reagent can affect accuracy...

    Can't lower TA

If your fill water has a high TA and you are having to fill to fight evaporation in the desert it may be challenging or impossible to lower very much. Otherwise, I’d keep trying and if you can get 31.5% MA it would be a bit easier. Also drop to pH 7.2 and aerate and keep bombing with acid when...

    Borated Pool: “Side Effect”

Honestly, I didn’t really see a change in pH stability with Boric acid. I was hoping to. I still add the same regular amounts of acid. Its the water quality factor and the beneficial skin effects that sells me.

Yes. 1st personal pool, period. But I didn’t go with borates for a while and I still felt the occasional itchiness before borates.

    Borated Pool: “Side Effect”

I “Borated” the pool (Boric Acid) after getting our new pool balanced and seemed to sense a water quality feel/sparkle others have mentioned. Also I don’t get the chlorine itch I usually get from many pools. But after the long hot summer I just came to realize .... I didn't have a hint of the...

Jandy TruClear SWG ”Pro Series” Controls Disabled?

Yep. Sorry you can’t see the display in the pic at this distance but it is definitely which is why I am befuddled as to why the buttons do nada... I tried to take the front panel off by removing the obvious screws but the lower part would not disengage and it’s my neighbors not mine so I was...

Jandy TruClear SWG ”Pro Series” Controls Disabled?

It looks standalone panel to me but here’s a pic or two. Also the wiring is such that the pump and SWG are on different but linked breakers but on the same intermatic timer. So I can’t run the pump without the SWG also on 70% with the panel not working(other than display). Thanks for the help.

Jandy TruClear SWG ”Pro Series” Controls Disabled?

My snowbird neighbor is back and not surprisingly his hot tub and pool are scaled because his “pool service” did not keep the chemistry balanced (pH and TA high). I had warned them... The Salt level was also way high but fill water dilution and a deluge from Nestor last night helped get that...

    Chasing the perfect TA

Going through the same thing here with my 1 yr old pool. Gradually bringing down the TA to 50-60 and seeing of I can keep the pH 8.0 pr below without adding MA as often and without going too aggressively low on the CSI . So far, as I have dropped the TA the pH rise is definitely slowing and...

How does one decide target CYA for your location/season?

What jblizzle said. I was plenty fine at 50 CYA for my SWG in a screened enclosed pool here in Florida running 10% or less. I also have sun sails up now which probably help keep FC up a bit more. I know TFP recommends 70 for outdoor pools but I am sorry I went up tp 70 npw, although it does...

Trying to find the balance to reduce acid addition with acceptable CSI

The Borate addition didn't impact chemistry much maybe a bit slower to drift up... but there is some perceptible change in feel and sparkle that is pleasant.
