Pool is looking great.. Just need to bring down the PH and burn off some Chlorine.

After this hose wash, pressure has been staying steady around 10/15 PSI for past, 3 hours. I added another gallon of chlorine as well. Water is getting clear. I am now able to see the bottom drain. Still little cloudy.

So backwashing and rinse wasn't helping. So I opened the filter. This is my 3rd time hoseing down the grid. Does it look like a badly clogged grid?

One more question, are there different alternatives to de media powder than DE itself? I know there is food grade and pool grade. But are there different option in pool DE?

I guess I never had my pool get this bad. Having the cover open since memorialize weekend allowed algae to grow out if control. I have been using the robot vac. It's been life saving. I do see it picking up dead algae in thr filter. It's just annoying opening the filter to hose down...

Thank you John for your help with this. This morning I noticed water level had dropped I am seeing this at the skimmers. So definitely loosing water somewhere.

I think there is a air leak issue but can't tell where. I think time to call the pros.

I just opened the filter. I hosed it down. Added new DE POWDER. Also made this video and uploded it on YouTube

When basket gets full water starts coming through the return line.

Pressure guage is at zero. Pump basket has water but it's half way full. I even opened both valves to pull more water from the pool. I see water fill up in the pump basket then level drops.

Update from this morning: I noticed that working return line and waterfall were starting and stopping. Meaning, water flow than stop. Could that be a clogged filter or loss of pressure/suction somewhere?

I just opened the pool for the summer season after getting tile work fixed There are four return lines coming in to my pool. One is a waterfall other three are in the wall. So, only one is spewing water. One of the line has been plugged since we bought the house and forth one which I know...

Figured out everything. Pool heater also had two plugs and mini motor that control the Polaris vac also had one. All good now. Thank you. Pouring the water trick got me going.

So I did find some plugs inside the pump that were left after closing. I added the water and saw that water drained out so I closed off the two holes. I still have other plugs that I am not sure about. Big black piece is a cap for something. Don't know about the other two.

Didn't add any water in to the pump. Am I suppose to? It's like there is no suction.

Left the motor running for about 5 mins. Still nothing.

So I opened the pool myself this season. I took out all the plugs from return lines, gismos from skimmer and plug inside motor. Also opened both valves one from skimmers and one from bottom of the pool drain. I am not seeing water reaching the motor/pump. What am I missing?

How's your gas bill? I bought a house with a pool and heater but haven't used the heater yet thinking heating the pool will be expensive.

Finally got it covered. I have Merlin ultramesh cover so not much sun goes in there. I could be wrong. This was my first season of owning the pool. Attaching the closed pool pic. Should I still go for the tarps?

I guess miss the part about putting holes in the tarp. I will Get couple of sand bags to hold the tarp down and keep the middle part open. I'll take pictures once i close and cover with the tarp. Thank you for the suggestions.

I can get the tarp. But when the water collects on top of the tarp will weigh down the cover. How do you deal with that?

I have a odd shape pool so another pool cover will be expensive. I have a mesh cover which did a great job. I might add something at the edge of the cover to make sure dry leaves don't get in. I have a pump which will go under the cover to maintain the water level below the skimmer line...
